  1. He's better away, this year (both sample sizes over 100 ABs).
  2. Bloom has to know who the guys that can recognize and develop great pitchers are. Offer 'em double. If they say no, offer 'em triple.
  3. What good does that do? An ump can get half the calls wrong, and they can't fire him.
  4. His best hope is probably DH, and that's a longshot. Was he all that bad at 2B?
  5. I listen to many different opinions on everything from sports to music to politics. Of course, I don't agree with them all, and I expect that. I told you already what bother me about those talk shows, and it wasn't their differing opinions. It was their near complete ignorance of the facts. It's their job, and they can't even verify facts, and this isn't some political alt fact thing: they couldn't even get right how many control years a Sox player had. That bugged me. I will also say, many opinions on why we should have traded for Soto got me thinking some people are clueless, but it didn't bother me, personally.
  6. That was 10 times worse than any of these changes.
  7. That sounds good. If he steps out with 9 seconds, does the clock get paused? Can he step out 2 or more times?
  8. I wonder, if he's even tried.
  9. I think we need to trade for an ace. I'd offer a QO to Wacha, and not Nate, but if they bring back both, we still need an ace. I'd rather trade Casas or Yorke & Rafaela for an ace than spend half our winter budget on a FA pitcher.
  10. We have too many wings and prayers on our staff already. We need durability and known skillsets. (Yes, all pitchers are a gamble, but we need to seek stability.)
  11. I think the length of the games is part of the decline, too, but yes, cost increases and the inconvenience of getting to and from the venue matter most..
  12. I'll try to find the article. Yes, there are many different opinions- most not in agreement with mine on many issues.
  13. Somebody posted that, recently. I'm not sure how many years it is.
  14. Well said. Bad or questionable calls should not be part of the game, if they don't have to be.
  15. Anybody else notice that with Verlander on the IL, the ex-Rays GM, James Click's team has a 6 man rotation. Nothing strange about that, you say? Well, all are homegrown!!!
  16. Teams have always noticed things like, "Don't pitch so-and-so inside" or "so-and-so down and away." That's analytics. Now that teams have gotten smarter about it, and studied, calculated and created spread sheets on every batter and pitcher, it's "gone to far," and the "Nerds are ruining the game." Newsflash: the teams that have done this the best are often the winningest ones, and it's always been like that. I get the dislike of seeing 3 infielders on the left side of the infield. It just doesn't look right. It doesn't look like the baseball we all grew up playing and or watching. It's not a big deal, to me, outlawing it, but it doesn't seem right to legislate against teams being smarter than others. Also, I might prefer seeing 3 infielders on the left side of the infield over some ugly new lines painted on the field. There are plenty of other ways to speed up the game.
  17. And, how did we choose to acquire some of those greats? I doubt they only looked at ERA & BA and the ole "eye test." How did they decide to let some of our stars go- just in time? It couldn't have anything to do with data on player decline by age- that would be too nerdy. Remember when everyone ooo'd and awww'd at VTek's computer brain? The guy committed to memory more than any little cheat sheet kept under a player's cap could ever hold. You think all he memorized was BA's and HRs? I don't get why some want to limit intelligence in baseball.
  18. Sounds like a great plan, and apparently the 3 year rule about poaching people from your former organization has now passed- so have at it, BLOOM! He might want to poach the Braves and Marlin's systems, too. I'd rather he pay them double than sign the next Diekman,
  19. It was a question about Sox management, not your opinion on analytics, but okay. BTW, you obviously care..
  20. I didn't ask the question you answered.
  21. Do you deny analytics were a big part of Theo's reign as GM? They went after high OBP guys like "The Grrek God of Walks" -Youk and Papi, just to name 2. (Manny was a carry over, but he fit right into any form of offensive metric usage.
  22. It's about what I hoped for, and he might reach 115-120.
  23. The Wacha & Hill signings blow away the Richards & Peez signings of 2021, yet the results of the team do not reflect the improvement in that area.
  24. To me, he’s proven he’s better in LF.
