Teams have always noticed things like, "Don't pitch so-and-so inside" or "so-and-so down and away." That's analytics. Now that teams have gotten smarter about it, and studied, calculated and created spread sheets on every batter and pitcher, it's "gone to far," and the "Nerds are ruining the game." Newsflash: the teams that have done this the best are often the winningest ones, and it's always been like that.
I get the dislike of seeing 3 infielders on the left side of the infield. It just doesn't look right. It doesn't look like the baseball we all grew up playing and or watching. It's not a big deal, to me, outlawing it, but it doesn't seem right to legislate against teams being smarter than others. Also, I might prefer seeing 3 infielders on the left side of the infield over some ugly new lines painted on the field.
There are plenty of other ways to speed up the game.
