  1. I think it is more likely we get Andrus than a top 3 remaining SS. We won't get Judge, but we might sign 3-5 players in the $12-22M/yr range on top of Andrus. I probably won't be "angry," but We'll hear about how the majority of Sox Nation is irate with Bloom, over and over. Even if Bloom does not impress me, this winter, the results will be what he is judged by after finally getting a big enough budget to cover most of the high needs.
  2. Jays have made an offer to Heaney. I wonder, if he'll take it to BOS for a match. (LOL)
  3. Newsflash!
  4. I'm all for overpaying someone. I just think Bogey's overpay will be too much, and He should not be a SS for too much longer. Sign 2-3 from Senga, Swanson, Nimmo, Contreras or Nate (Jansen, Bassitt, Taillon?) Not that we can't afford Bogey and 1-2 of these guys, as well.
  5. Maybe Bloom should have traded Casas, Mayer, Bleis and Bello, so we wouldn't finish in last and therefore be "acceptable."
  6. 200/9 is less of an AAV than our offer of $90M/4, but I'm not sure I'd go 9 years, when I think he'll be off SS in 2-3 years or whenever Mayer is ready.
  7. Bloom has built up a better farm, although it's close and started with a bottom 5 farm. He has worked with a tighter budget, but lost points with me for not staying under, this year. I think Bloom was the GM the team needed and wanted. I think he's done a pretty good job in what I think were the higher priorities handed him. Cashman has made many bad moves in the past 3 years. I haven't counted to see if it's more than Bloom.
  8. I believed #2 since they offered the one year add-on to his current contract. I don't think they viewed that as "low ball," which shows how much they think he was worth back then. With inflation, maybe they've upped it a bit, but I doubt by much and I am extremely convinced they will not come close to the top offer he gets.
  9. In the rainwater barrel?
  10. or after 2021.
  11. Agreed, and once they did not extend Bogey, they started figuring he was gone and planned/acted accordingly.
  12. Cashman is worse. Bloom is better at what is needed for the Sox. My opinion might change, after this winter/upcoming season. How is that for a conversation starter?
  13. Agred. Turner may be a bit more durable. He has about 650 more innings at SS than Correa since 2018.
  14. All I said was the Beni trade was TBD, still. I do think the money saved and what we did with it can be counted as a factor, butlike I said, one could use Renfroe or Marwin. I'm not defending the trade. The Beni portion is over. The Sox haul is still TBD, but I am not as optimistic about it than I was at the time.
  15. Zero. I'd much rather have Bloom than Cashman.
  16. Yanks extend Cashman through 2026. Great news for Sox fans, finally.
  17. I hope the Yanks cripple their budget by signing Judge. I don't see them ever becoming the Dodgers East, so overpaying Judge will restrict their signings for many, many years. I had hoped we'd spend the $80M on 3-4 slots not 5-6, but we are running out of options on 3 for $80M, unless we sign Judge (zero chance) or Correa (very slim chance.) Will we trade for high contracts?
  18. Ask them. (KC probably demanded it, and no other team offered better.) You think Bloom left millions on the table?
  19. You mean Raffy?
  20. Only if he is also free to fill other gaps by spending enough, but yes, if the owners says spend, you spend..
  21. My kinda deal! (I'd have gone $310/12! LOL.) Wonder why DD didn't want Bogey instead for maybe 2/3 the cost.
  22. I'll be more upset if we way overpay for him than passing on him. This is not the season to just sign one of the better FA SP'ers just because we need one.
  23. Just because one happened before the other, doesn't mean it wasn't planned. I'm not talking about the horrific trade, but it seems it is overlooked that Bloom signed Renfroe to begin with, and I do think the money saved in the Beni trade allowed for the signing. (I guess one could argue we signed Marwin with the money, too, but the budget was tight that winter and Bloom had over a dozen slots to fill.
  24. Nothing a little Ajax can't take care of.
