  1. I wonder if the hold up is over Bogey's desire to stay at SS (short or long term.) If he insists on SS, I'd refuse a no-trade clause.
  2. A solid SP'er would take some pressure off the pen, IMO. Our 9 man pen currently looks like this: Jansen Houck Martin Schreiber Barnes Joely R. Crawford Winckowski Brasier/Taylor/Kelly/German/Politi/Wallace/DHern/Fernandez Converted minor league SP'ers: Mata, Walter, Murphy, Seabold, Santos, TWard If adding another pen arm insures a Brasier DFA or trade, like it should, I'm all for it, but more likely we'll have Wink or Crawford start the season in AAA, assuming no injuries- ha, ha, ha!
  3. Andrus and Conforto will not match Bogey's AAV and certainly not years- even if combined.
  4. I guess they could give him a bumped up offer and get him to agree to come back for a final chance to match, but you may be right. It's today or never for Bogey & the Sox. My question is, what do they do with "Bogey's money," if he bolts?
  5. Contreras gats $17.5M x 5 with STL.
  6. Options remaining on players that matter (per SPs): 0 Brasier Refsnyder Joely R 1 DHern Seabold Mata (why just 1?) Wong 2 Taylor Crawford & Wink Duran & Downs Ort Park 3 Schreiber Kelly German (All the Rule 5's added + Casas)
  7. As long as it's not heavy petting, although, if that's what it takes...
  8. Sounds about right. If we need to put him in the pen for a while to limit his inning, that should be fine, but we need to add a solid SP for that to happen. We aren't getting 28+ starts from our current projected rotation.
  9. His OPS Against in 2022 was second best in his last 4 years. It is way better from '21-'22 than '19-'20. He may very well "be in decline," but in some areas, he hasn't shown it. Even at 90-95%, he's a vast improvement over what we have. The only question is will he do it. He was probably the 2nd or 3rd best RP'er on the market, this winter.
  10. That looks pretty decent. Crawford may beat out Wink or we may keep both as swingmen/long relief profiles. 9 RP'ers is the norm. Maybe we add Crawford or German or acquire another. I think we are done with pen additions.
  11. I think everyone knows this fact. Some players don't choose the best offer. Judge just left $40M on the table. It sounded like a gratuitous jab at the Sox for not being "contenders."
  12. Rule 5 draft is today. We have 39 on the roster with Martin and jansen pending.
  13. I'm guessing we're done with pen additions.
  14. If Rogers gets less, I'll have wished we got him, but it seems Bloom can't win, here, no matter what he does.
  15. I get that. I might have offered him $15M x 2, but he may have said no to that. The Mets certainly look like better contenders, at this point.
  16. I'm talking specifically about this year's needs, in theory, but yes finding 3 FAs that will make about $30M at SS, SP and RF is not really possible. Correa, Judge and Bassit might come closest to $90M/3 Maybe Correa, Nimmo and Senga or Bogey, Judge and Senga.
  17. Contreras about to sign with Cards. They usually value defense and other behind the plate skills, so maybe Contreras is better than I thought, there.
  18. It's been an exciting signing period the last few days.
  19. We went over the tax line, anyway, in 2022, so yes, good point.
  20. Maybe, they went against Bloom's wishes or choices.
  21. If that's where Jansen & family was, great idea!
  22. Makes you wonder: does DD choose owners willing to spend, or does he have a way of talking them into spending more or even a little more?
  23. Not bad at $13M x 2. This is another deal, I's have matched. The 2 years is fine.
  24. Agreed, but if I had to, I'd go 3 x 30 over 9 x 10.
  25. Although some stats show some decline, he's still damn good at age 35. OPS Against .652 in '19 .615 in '20 .501 in '21 .612 in '22 His 3.86 K/BB rate was his best in 3 years. He's 10th in fWAR by RP'ers the last 3 years at 3.5
