    Ummm, Bregman offered to play 2B so the inferior defensive player could be babied and play 3B. Nobody asked or even hinted for him to play 1B. I'm fine with the dislike for Brez, but there is no need to suggest we make the team worse by playing people at the wrong positions just to make your point.

    The SFG GM, fans, teammates and manager experienced his insubordination. Moving the goalpost to wanting the GM gone over Devers does not change the facts about what Devers did. It is a worthwhile new discussion point. We just got a new principal at my school. The prior one told me he wanted me to switch to SpEd from ESL, as that department needs help. I did not want to move and let him know, but I accepted my new assignment. If the next principal tells me he wants be to teach ELA, guess what I'll do? If I refuse, I'd fully expect to be let go. That's what happens when employees are insubordinate, even with good reasons.

    Who is overlooking 30 pops a year? Who is calling him a "demon?" He was insubordinate under two GMs and managers, within a year. BTW, Manny was dumped, too.

    There is a big difference from wanting to stay in the game and showing up your manager and the poor PR guy trying to do what he was told to do. Defending these actions and wanting this guy back is mind-boggling, to me. Blame Brez, Cora, JH & Co. all you want. They deserves a lot of blame, but the bottom line is insubordination, and condoning that is indefensible.

    He painted himself into a bad light. he didn't need help, despite getting it. Refusing to come out for a PR'er confirms it was not only about Brez. It's about Devers and his fragile ego being more important than doing what's best for the team.

    It's hard to know if only spreadsheets and models got Brez to make trades for Crochet, Contreras, Gray, Durbin, O'Neill and others that have done well, along with those that have not gone well or not so well, so far like Sale, Harrison and Priester, but I see a major improvement over the moves made after the Eovaldi trade in 2028 to the end of the Bloom era. This major step back in record, this year sucks and is the bottom line for many fans, but I think we are a better team now than when Brez took over the team. The farm is better. The young core is better. The 40 is better. The 26 is better. The record is NOT, for now.

    One big plus from building up the farm is the opportunity it creates to trade for guys like Gray and Contreras. DD mastered that idea and maximized is by trading just about every over-rated prospects we had. (Somehow, lucky or not, he kept the ones that ended up doing well.) What would the future outlook of this team be without Tolle, Early, Rafaela and several other homegrown talent we decided to keep. Plus prospects and young players traded for like Abreu, Durbin and Bennett. I'm not sure we can trade away as many prospects and young players as we did last winter, and still maintain a young pipeline infusion for the next few years, but we may have to in order to put together a winning team in 2027. Hoping our young players grow and improve did not work in 2026. While some are upset we lost Harrison and Priester, where would we be without Gray, Contreras and others we traded for?

    Reports said he almost immediately regretted signing with BOS, but Manny often looked very happy on the team, especially after winning multiple rings. I agree, they botched the communication or position changes, and the Bloom promise made was a factor from the Devers' perspective, but the team needed him to change positions to make the club better. It seemed obvious the team was better with Bregman at 3B and Devers at DH or 1B. The point is, even if you think the position change idea is wrong, do you really think it's okay for a player to refuse a move? To then call out the GM publically? To then show up his next team's manager over a PR'er sent out to help the team win? The guy became a cancer, seemingly overnight. Even if he had good reasons to be upset, he still became a cancer. To me, that is beyond debate. He is a cancer and just about every SFG fan is aware of that, now. They'd gladly undo the trade.

    I'm not ashamed of really liking Devers and wanting us to finally keep one of our stars, after losing Betts, Bogey and countless others. I was glad we extended him. I also wanted him moved off 3B for longer than my "Devers Forevers" chant. He always seemed like a fun-loving player who loved the game and was a natural hitter, despite some flaws in his approach. I never expected him to sour and not want to do what what the team management felt was best for the team. Call that flipping and flopping, if you want, but there is no denying the situation changed. Even if you think Brez or the team was 100% at fault for the situation, and you felt he was best used at DH or 3B and not 1B, the team wanted him at 1B and he refused. In what world does anyone think that's okay and that kind of player should return to the team? I'm fine with being called a flip-flop on this issue, but wanting him back is worse than silly- it's absurd.

    I've seen smaller sample sizes than this used to make a point, but there is also this: His last 20 games in BOS: .706 OPS. He's hit .786 with SFG since the trade. Those 35 dingers would be helpful, but the idea of him staying or returning to BOS is about as silly as can be. No disrespect intended towards anyone, but come on. Devers in BOS is a silly idea. The same guy who claim my suggested trade offers should be viewed as predictions and I've been wrong on all of them is supporting the idea that Devers in BOS is a good idea. Can I call him/them wrong, because it will never happen? LMAO!

    We are just a few weeks away from the deadline, now. A while ago, I asked if adding B Lowe and Jeffers (two reasonable targets that would not cost an arm and a leg) might make us playoff worthy. After the last two games, I'm thinking we'd need a lot more than that, and it's just not worth giving up future assets to make a string stab at something special in 2026. I guess that could change if we can win a few series in a row, but so far this year, we have won just two series in a row, once, and that was way back in early April. It appears we are more than two decent players away from serious AL contention, but in a league like this maybe taking a stab might work. Right now, I'm in sell mode.

    I brought up the two contracts as a point that their wasted money is less than Bichette's or Bregman's would have been. I'd rather have Bregman or Bichette playing on the team than KC and Bello on the farm desperately fighting to become relevant again, but not at their contractual costs. I might not want either one at half their contract costs.

    DFA Watson and add Sandoval to the 40 and 26. Add Bello to the 26 (Demote Gamboa.) One starts and the other tries to bolster the pen by eating innings in chunks. Maybe one or both can build up trade value. DFA or trade Yoshida and add Ward to the 40 and 26. By the deadline, trade Gray, Coulombe, Sandoval & IKF (the one and dones.) Trade Duran. Consider trading Chapman, Contreras and Bello, but don't hand them away for the bets offer, if it's not a good one. Go into the next winter with the idea that several major trades will be needed, and hope Brez hits on his top 3-4 moves, again. (I know- fat chance, right?)

    I've been flopping between buy and sell the last week or so. Right now, I'm thinking sell. Trading for controlled players at the deadline is too costly. Better to sell, and then wheel and deal this winter. It's one thing Brez does a lot of, and he did pretty well, last winter, with his trades. The Suarez signing looks like the best major FA signing since JD. Say what you want about Brez and the team record, but selling prospects for rentals seems like a really bad idea.

    It's easy to add him to the 40 from the 60 day IL, but I'd be fine with Bello first, and let Sandoval get another start in the minors.
