  1. There has been talk, here in Houston, all year about the Astros possibly trading Chas McCormick. He's pretty damn good on D and can hit LHPs real well. His .760 v RHPs in 2023 was not bad, either. Not sure what we have that they want.
  2. Yes, and he did have a +9 DRS and +11.2 UZR/150. OAA had him at just +2. I'm still not sure, if he as good as Dugo was in 2023. The thing is, Dugo might not be that good in 2024, as well. I think I'd be fine with trading Dugo and going with Duvall in RF with Abreu as his back-up. Abreu can also back up CF (to Rafaela) and LF (Duran) and probably get enough PAs to prove he deserves more, or not. We may not want to trade Ref, until we know more about Duran, Rafaela and Abreu, even if we do bring back Duvall.
  3. OF OAA 2022 to 2023 RF +1 Duvall +0 Verdugo +0 Duran (-4 T Hernandez, -7 Renfroe, -16 J Soto) CF +2 Rafaela (in a very short time) +0 Duvall +0 Refsnyder -1 Abreu (small sample) -2 Duran (+11 Bellinger) LF +1 Abreu +1 Duvall +0 Duran -2 Refsnyder -4 Verdugo -9 Yoshida (no 2022) (+0 T Hern)
  4. On the FA market, he might be the best option. I'm not sure about his defense in RF. He'd be fine in LF, but we have that position covered 4 times over. I don't really want to see him in CF, unless in a pinch. On D, he could be a step down from Verdugo in RF.
  5. Some big games this week: #1 GA v #20 Kentucky #3 TX v #12 OKL #10 ND @ Louisville #11 ALA @ TX A&M The following week: ORE @ WSH USC @ ND
  6. B ack to baseball and the offseason: Who are some big RHBs available via trade? No, not Trout.
  7. I'm not "worried" about you celebrating, at all. I knew you'd be happy. Why should I care, if Cora had a hand in the choice, at all? It means nothing to me. I don't get why you feel I should be worried about Cora's having a hand in it all (or not,) but I'm sure it makes perfect sense to your twisted mind. The choice was made. It was the right choice. I'm actually glad to see you are no longer hiding your giddiness. It upset you so much seeing us getting giddy over the team winning, back in July, and now we can all see what makes you giddy, and it ain't the Sox winning. You chose to hide, then. Crack open a bottle of champagne. Your time has come! Come out of the basement! Rejoice- rejoice! Don't forget to pat yourself on the back. You've gone 47 seconds since your last pat.
  8. Yup. Celebrating- just as I mentioned. 6 or seven posts ago, you asked, "How did I get what I wanted?" You just answered your own question. I can feel the joy seeping out of my laptop.
  9. Forever the optimist!
  10. He was 18 in '67, so I agree. Your answer has nothing to do with my point, anyway. BTW, IMO, we did lose in those first 3 WS chances due to management not wanting to spend enough to get us over the top. In '75 and '78 we had a good GM, but were always one top pitcher away from a ring. Everyone knew it. We sign Catfish Hunter and not the Yanks, what happens? Anyway, the past does not matter to you, so why bring it up?
  11. Or... 2022 .578 JBJ (most games in RF) .629 Kike (most games in CF) 2021 Marwin got 271 PAs at .567 before we cut ties. 2020 .442 Beni (most games in LF that season) I really like Rafaela (and Abreu,) but he is not a sure bet to hit over .650.
  12. You wanted Bloom gone, even if we won. At least losing got you something you wanted. I'll take a page from your book and start by saying, "LIKE I'VE SAID FOR MONTHS," be careful what you wish for.
  13. They do but into splits, and moving a planned day by 1-2 days is not rocket science.
  14. I hope the next GM does not think even one guy is "untouchable." Of course, I expect him to try and hold onto the players he thinks are the best (or will be,) but if the right offer comes up, he needs to pull the trigger.
  15. Is this plan really all that hard or will greatly unbalance the days off when compared to planning on a day off for player A in 12 days? 1. Plan on giving player A a day off in 10-14 days. 2A. If the player is cold, you might give him a day off on day 8 or 9, especially if facing a pitcher that is not a good match. 2B. If the player is hot, you may hold off until day 15-16, especially if the pitcher is a good/better match for a day off. 3. If there is no good match for a day off, you just give him one, somewhere between 10 and 14, if 2A or 2B do not occur. I'm not arguing some major change. While I think Cora gives a few too many days off, that part doesn't bother me as much as the rigidity of the "plan," and how it sometimes sits a guy when facing a likely good match-up, or when a guy seems to be heating up, nicely. I'm not suggesting a radical departure from what Cora does.
  16. Don't accept reality, if you choose. The 2023 season is in the past, to me. It sucked, badly. I accept we sucked, because it happened. Obviously changes were made based on that acceptability falling below a certain level. Congrats! You got what you wanted.
  17. If we slot Duran in LF, Rafaela in CF and Abreu in RF as the FT starters, we better make sure we have a couple very capable back-ups. I'm thinking slotting the 3 into 2 OF positions is likely pushing the envelope.
  18. I wouldn't take him, if they paid $15M or more per year on what is left.
  19. "You may enjoy it" is so typical of your blather.
  20. Either you care about the past or you don't, but it seems like the past does matter, when you want it to.
  21. Just stop saying eye test, when you don't watch the games, and I'll stop bringing up how many game you DON'T watch.
  22. I'd probably agree, but rookie year might be tough.
  23. 20-33%? I would not be surprised if some computer put it at 35-40% chance at sub .650. MLB had over 35 batters at .650 or lower with 300+ PAs in 2023. That's over 10%.
