  1. FULL Throttle!!!!
  2. I only looked at OAA, which had him at +4 in 2023 and +13 from '21-'23.
  3. At least WM is a decent fielder.
  4. The Yanks and Jays are seriously trying to improve.
  5. Probably right, unless BOS offers more money, and it's enough to sway him away from NY.
  6. I agree, but I do not think it's NOT a slam dunk. The Mets might be thinking option B is better, and it costs Cohen more money... which he has. A. $250M/10 for Yamo vs B. $200/7 Snell + $100M/5 Imanaga
  7. Why didn't he sign the top 10 FAs, last year? He does have limits and preferences. It does appear he really wants Yamo, so I do think the Mets have an edge, but there has to be a point, where Cohen and the GM say, we can get more for our money, elsewhere, and walk away from the bidding war.
  8. Filling the 2B position gives us a big chance to improve the D and the O. It's the one non pitching position I think we need to use the needed resources to fill correctly. It seems Brez is looking at trading for a 2Bman. I don't think India is an improvement. Our 2Bmen hit .748 in 2023, but were the worst or near worst on D in most meaningful metrics.
  9. "All in" does not mean he'll go to $1billion. Every owner has his limit. We don't know his or JH's on Yamo. Cohen could pivot to Monty & Snell, if the price gets too high.
  10. I'd say add Duvall, too. (Gurriel plays LF, but he seems to be a target.)
  11. Yes. I'm not saying I am for the "quantity" approach. I'm actually firmly against it. I do think, if we add a solid D and O 2Bman and an OF'er who hits RH'd and can hit for power (Duvall?) We can be much better than 2023 with Stroman, Lugo and Imanaga. Not sure that's "FULL THROTTLE," but it looks to beat any Bloom winter.
  12. Player C is on the Sox, too: 64 G .716 OPS, 94 OPS+, -5 DRS Player C is Pablo Reyes.
  13. Agreed. Is he better than any current MLB 26th man utility guy? His PR abilities might interest some GM, but with no plus D or O, I just don't see it. He has to improve to make it, IMO. He turnes 27, next September, so the chances are slim.
  14. He might be an okay DH, but we have 5-10 guys that fit that mold.
  15. It's not even close: .748 v L .683 v R He's way better than Dugo vs lefties. Over the last 3 years he placed 97th worst out of 250 in OPS v L. (.751) Dugo was 19th worst. (.615) If that's not a worthy platoon, I ask, what is?
  16. I've already answered this. Although Grisham is also a lefty, I'd play him in CF vs lefties, and use him as a late inning defensive replacement late in games. I do not think all lefties should platoon, but Dugo has sucked vs LH'ers. .609 in '23 (.66 when a LH'er starts) .693 in '22 (.550) .554 in '21 (.615) Out of the 150 batters with 350+ PAs vs LHPs since 2021, Dugo has the second worst OPS at .615 (only Miles Straw was worse.) At what level do you suggest a left be platooned? The worst? Out of 194 batters with 300+ PAs, he places 9th worst- just .002 from 6th worst. Out of 250 with 250+ PAs, he places 19th worst. That's bottom 8%.
  17. I would not give Wikelman, Monegro or Perales for him. I would probably give Walter, Mata and Hoppe.
  18. Yes, because JH is filthy rich. If he wants Yamo, he can get silly with the bidding.
  19. There will likely be some shuffling, not matter where each player plays the most. I've always felt Dugo should be platooned, so maybe Dugo plays the bigger corner OF slot vs RHPs, only, and although Grisham bats LH'd, too, play him vs LHPs, so Judge can play RF some of the time. Maybe, they do trade Dugo, but if they don't, I think they try to play him vs all RHPs.
  20. Agreed. Right now, his best MLB talent is as a PR. Expanded utility might be his only way to stick to a ML club- probably not BOS.
  21. Yes. Is anyone really torn up we missed out on these guys? Sure, Nola, ERod or Gray would have been a nice signing, and I don't think any were overpaid, but the list of remaining SP'ers is better and longer.
  22. Probably not, unless we add a very good 2Bman and CF/RF'er who slugs RH'd. I'm not arguing I'd be happy with Imanaga and Lugo as the only starters added, but if these guys can give us 28+ GS and 160+ IP, our pen would be greatly improved, and some of our tweener pitchers would have better defined roles. Let's say the two start 55 games and 340 IP combined. They could replace 16 GS'd by "openers" plus 9 by Kluber (6.26 ERA) and 19 by Paxton (4.50). Let's say Bello gives us 28 and Pivetta 27. That gives is 120 starts. Hopefully Sale can eat 20-30 of the remaining 42, leaving just 12-22 for the "tweeners:" 23 Crawford 21 Houck 10 Whitlock These 54 could be cut drastically and added to the pen's IP. If we added 3 SP'ers, add Pivetta to that list, or we can add one of these guys to a package and get a real ace via trade.
  23. By bidding a couple $million more or adding length. I have to think the Yanks want to extend Soto. They will have Judge, Soto and Cole on their books. I doubt they are thinking, "We will pay whatever it takes for Yamo." It's hard to know how Cohen feels after getting bitch-slapped by his overpays, last winter. JH has the money: it's all about the will to spend it, and where he might think the cost becomes silly.
  24. I realize CF is more demanding, especially in Yankee Stadium, but it's not a minefield.
  25. Agreed, but I'm looking for more than mere "improvement." I'm all about Quality over quantity, at the moment, but if we go third tier, I'd hope we get 3 not 2 form that group. That would further strengthen the pen, especially with mulit-inning guys that would allow us to yank any SP'er early and often.
