  1. Indeed. That is a big sign. The minor league numbers reflect the same gap. OBPs in the minors were pretty close.
  2. We are 4 above .500 in 2023. No questioning allowed, until we are 1 under. LOL
  3. I find it puzzling why our last few 1Bmen called up have all sucked on D.
  4. No GM hits more than misses on these types of additions, so that context is important, but we have had a bunch of failures and even extreme failures on these types of "gets."
  5. In no way am I trying to equate casas to Dalbec, but there was a time Dalbec was showig the same turn-around Casas showed this year... 2023 Casas .642 up to June 3rd (180 PAs) 1.006 after June 3rd (291 PAs) 2021 Dalbec .595 up to June 8th (173 PAs) .947 6/8 to 9/10 (226 PAs) and .916 from 6/8 to the end of '21 (280 PAs) Again, I'm not feeling the same with Casas as I did with Dalbec after his great second half of 21, but I feel we need to be cautious with our expectations with Casas. IMO, I see him getting even better and only worry about his D. He has a great plate approach and seems to be able to adjust, well. I think the umps squeezed the rookie, early in the year, too.
  6. Sometimes, it doesn't really seem like rocket science: teams like TBR, HOU and LAD often get the pitcher to just make one simple adjustment, like throw ___ pitch more or less often, and BOOM!
  7. The "issue" has been going on longer than 2023. .914 OPS from '18-'19 with a 162 game line of: .300 31 123 2018-2020 was fine: .907 OPS .300 31 116 His D improved a bit after 2020, but his 2021-2022 numbers took a big dip. The .848 OPS was still very good, but it was not over .900 and his 162 game line, in terms of producing runs, took a tumble: .301 21 84 2021-2023 numbers are .818 .292 20 76
  8. Apparently, the guy who "wrote the book" was plagiarizing,. To be fair, Bloom has "found a few gems in the rough," but not as many as I had hoped for, and we've seen such a long revolving door of failures in the pen, that "wondering WTF" seems like a tame response. Schreiber, Bernardino and who else? Robles and Rios for a few weeks? It seems we have more pitchers who have gone on to do better things, after leaving here than vice versa. Somebody ripped some pages from Bloom's playbook, before he left the Rays. (The important ones.)
  9. People put down our farm evaluators and developers, but yes, the guys on the big club aren't doing what teams like LAD, HOU, TBR and ATL are doing with their scrub additions. (Funny how 3 of those 4 teams have/had ties to the Rays or are the Rays, themselves.)
  10. Except for the man on the top of the Ex list, nobody has wow'd anyone. (The pitcher list would have more than one guy.)
  11. Either way, the opposite is happening to us than what the Rays seem to do.
  12. Yes, and... Chang went on the IL... DHam sucked... Reyes came too late, and then was not played at SS, daily...
  13. MLB OPS Leaders with 290+ PAs (Sox Players) 14. Duvall .891 24. Casas .868 34. Devers .847 48. Turner .828 49. Duran .828 75. Yoshida .806 99. Verdugo .790 Ex-Sox 4. Betts 1.017 29. JD M .856 57. Schwarber .820 110. Pham .784 145. Bogey .755 172. Renfroe .728 (Same as Reyes) 190. Moncada .711 200. Beni .700 252. Margot .654 261. Kike .625 271. Vaz .607
  14. What the hell is going on with our luck? Zack Littell goes 8 IP for the Rays allowing 5 hits and just 1 run (1BB & 4K!) Luis Castillo out-dueled him and SEA won 1-0. The Tigers are up 10-3, late on the Yanks, for all those who felt they are better than us. (They may still prove to be.)
  15. I debated flipping Teel & Anthony. I had a hard time figuring Bleis, Romero and Drohan.
  16. I think the idea was try Kike for 4-6 weeks, and if he was not working out, Mondesi would be ready to carry us to Story. The whole plan fell apart when Kike imploded from opening day on.
  17. We did end up needing a SS who could play D. If Mondesi's knee healed in the normal time, he'd have been useful. How is that curious? Yes, both Mondesi and Story were out to start the year, but Mondesi was thought to be possibly ready by May. Kluber was well rested, after missing years of work.
  18. $3.045M/1, but we traded Josh Taylor $1.025, so the hit was$2.2M
  19. There are a few players that could easily be traded or DFA'd to make room for Rule 5 additions (5-8 slots, maybe) and roster additions via free agency or trade (3-6 slots, maybe.) 60 Day IL Players will be added of dealt with, somehow: Duran - added Kelly - added Mills - added Mondesi, Kluber & Ort will be free agents or DFA'd The three added can take the place of JT, Duvall and Paxton- the free agents-to-be. The non-tenders, DFA or trade candidates: DFA Logan Gillaspie Zach Weiss Kyle Barraclough Mauricio Llovera Joe Jacques Justin Garza Trade/DFA Bobby Dalbec Bryan Mata Trade? David Hamilton Zach Kelly Brandon Walter Nick Robertson Joely Rodriguez ($4.25M option)
  20. There are posters who have mentioned trading Dugo for equal return, perhaps at another position of higher need or maybe a RH'd OF bat. Dumping a very good player is not what anyone has suggested. He's also had some, let's call them, "attitude incidents." He's a good RF'er on D. He's a good hitter vs RHPs. He's got one year of control left. He has real value to us and to other teams.
  21. I just made a list of all Sox players with 300+ PAs and their OPS. You chose to compare him to the 2Bman. Someone else compared him to our SS. You do what you want and want to view as relevant.
  22. Here is my new rankings list, which can change with the wind... 1. Anthony 2. Teel 3. Mayer 4. Rafaela 5. Cespedes 6. Bleis 7. Wikelman 8. Perales 9. Joh Garcia 10. Yorke 11. Castro 12. W Abreu 13. Zanetello 14. Romero 15. Monegro 16. Anderson 17. Gambrell 18. Hickey 19. E R-C 20. Bonachi 21.Meidroth 22. EValdez 23. S Scott 24. Drohan 25. Mata 26. Guerrero 27. I Coffey 28. K Campbell 29. DHam 30. Jordan 31. Yuten 32.Rosier Out of top 32: Alcantara, Paulino, Walter, Fernandez, C Coffey
  23. Got it. I misread what you wrote. I think some team might give us a single A prospect for a chance on Bobby Dee, but only if they have 40 man roster room and need a DH.
  24. He must be a much better fielder than Dalbec. LOL
  25. I don't get how TBR gets Civale for a 1Bman with a .780 AAA OPS.
