  1. Trading Dugo was a good option. To the Yanks? We'll see. Was O'Neill the best option for $5.5M? We'll see. If the idea was to save money by replacing Dugo with O'Neill, and we use that money wisely, it's a good plan. We'll see.
  2. Yes, you can look like that without roids.
  3. You have your opinion, and I have concerns, too, but do know, minor leaguers are tested, too. O'Neill has been in MLB for 6 years and the minors for 5 before that. I google O'Neill and steroids and get no hits. I don't think O'Neill staying or not staying beyond 2024 will prove anything, either.
  4. The foto does raise concerns, but hard working athletes can look like that without roids.
  5. I agree. The totality of moves made, so far, look okay and probably reflect the new GMs take on who needed to go, maybe more than who we got back. The O’Neill signing is his first significant signing. There are still a few FA pitchers that can be big helps, and I sense at least one big trade is going to happen, so if we add two new SPrrs, additions like O’Neill will not be an issue.
  6. Maybe he plays some 2B
  7. He tested positive “earlier?”
  8. Agreed, but maybe he can. It's not like Duvall was great in CF/RF. I'm wondering, too.
  9. Does this guy look like a man on roids? https://www.facebook.com/CardsNation247/posts/687547940039732/ Ooops.
  10. One (TOR) and a half (LAD.)
  11. Almost everybody in a MLB player (O'Neill, Campbell, Weissert), MLB ready (Slaten is Rule 5) or near MLB ready (Fitts turns 24, soon and was in AA, last year.) Maybe Judice is 2026.
  12. Brez, so far: Additions: Isaiah Campbell Tyler O'Neill (FA signing) Justin Slaten (Rule 5 requirements) Richard Fitts Greg Weissert Nicholas Judice Logan Gillaspe (off waivers) Subtractions: Verdugo (for Fitts, Weissert & Judice) Urias (for Campbell) Drohan (lost to Rule 5) RFernandez (lost to Rule 5) Ammons (+ cash for Slaten) (Declined options on Kluber and Joely) Simplified: Dugo for O'Neill Drohan for Campbell R Fernandez for Weissert Urias & Ammons for Slaten, Fitts & Judice
  13. We haven't lost anything of great value, and some of the guys we've added have real promise or have done some damage in the recent past, but yes, it is still early. On what's he's done, so far, it looks like a C to me.
  14. Brez, so far: Additions: Isaiah Campbell Tyler O'Neill (FA signing) Justin Slaten (Rule 5 requirements) Richard Fitts Greg Weissert Nicholas Judice Logan Gillaspe (off waivers) Subtractions: Verdugo (for Fitts, Weissert & Judice) Urias (for Campbell) Dorhan (lost to Rule 5) RFernandez (lost to Rule 5) Ammons (+ cash for Slaten) (Declined options on Kluber and Joely)
  15. I'm not sure about the fit for o'Neill, but how can any trade giving up who we gave up be called "horrible?"
  16. As mentioned previously by moonslav59.
  17. Victor Santos was acquired for Chatham- the trade that just keeps giving... LOL
  18. BTV rated: 5.7 O'Neill for 1.6 Nick Robertson 0.4 Victor Santos In other words, BTV thinks TO is worth $11.2M - $5.5 salary= 5.7 value. That 11.2 placed him at #19 in Sox skill + yrs value (below Jansen and above Bernardino & Martin.)
  19. MLBTR reports O'Neill had a run-in with his manager about a "lack of hustle." Sound familiar?
  20. I'm not sure how good Duvall would be in RF, but O'Neill looks like a straight LF'er. I'm not sure why Sox GMs seem to want four LF'ers on the 26, every year. 2857 innings in LF 304 in CF 152 in RF I get the idea of moving Yoshida to DH, full time, but does this mean Duran plays RF (or CF?) If O'Neil can return to 2021 levels, it's a steal, no matter where we play him. He turns 29, next summer. I wonder, if Duran will be traded, now. LF was also the best position for the RH'd platoon bat, Refsnyder, who has been one of MLB's best batters vs lefties since 2022. Will he b e traded, now?
  21. He had 34 HRs and a .352 OBP back in '21, but since then... 626 PAs in 2 seasons .229 23 79 .310 OBP .397 SLG .707 OPS (97 OPS+)
  22. Sox acquire Tyler O'Neill! RH'd bat, but he plays LF.
  23. I'd give that and more for that package.
  24. I entered a tarde on BTV: Wikelman, Walter & Mata for Polanco. That frees up roster room for Slaten and a free agent signing.
  25. He's also getting older, so if he was a bit plus, he might be average, next year, which like you said, is still a big plus. Add that to the possible big plus at SS, if Story stays healthy and CF, if Rafaela plays there, a lot, and our team D could jump up in '24.
