    No, I did not want us to re-sign Turner. Yes, I want to trade O'Neill rather than get nothing for him, as he signs somewhere else, this coming winter. (Plus, we could re-sign him, if JH opens his wallet. If we are in the race, at the deadline, I may change my mind. (I am not for trading him, now.)

    Early had his second straight good start: 5 IP 3 H 1 ER 1 BB 7 K B Gonzo has 2 HRs in the 6-5 loss. Salem won 6-0 E R-C with a very nice showing: 4 IP 2 H 0 ER 1 BB 7 K JH Garcia 3-5 Bleis 2 BB Yuten 2-4 Lugo 2-3 POR won game one 9-2, with the pen pitching. Anthony, Yorke, Paulino & Decker with HRs. (Anthony had a 2B, too.) POR is up 5-2 in game 2. Dobbins 4 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 5BB, 1 K Anthony & Paulion homered again, as Anthony has a BB, too. Mayer is 1-3 w 2 RBI.

    For sure. Part of the reason has been because our super utility guys have been needed FT at a position, due to injury, which then forced on off position move. This year, injuries to Story (SS) and Grissom (2B) would create difficulties for just about every team in MLB. Last year, it was Story and Chang, plus missed time by other MI'ers. (Kike sucking at SS didn't help, and that was hard to project.)

    I care. I want Mayer at 29 not learning on the fly during a lost season.

    He is likely better on D than others, but I'm not sure we should start his clock so early. He'll be better to have playing at age 29 than 21.

    I agree, but we've called up everyone on the 40, who can play 3B/SS/2B. We could DFA someone (Jacques) and add Meidroth or Westbrook. We could DFA someone (Jacques) and add Mayer, who is in AA. We could move Mata to the 60 Day IL and add Meidroth, Westbrook or Mayer. We could just sign leftover FA or trade for someone's defensively minded infielder.

    Agreed, although I think the Yanks have enough weak areas to have a bad streak or two, at some point. It might be better for us, if they kill BAL, TOR and TBR, when face-to-face with them. That being said, it might be very hard for us to finish in 4th place, let alone 3rd or sniff the playoffs, especially without Gio & Story.

    There are back-up SSs and unsigned SSs that should be better than DHam/Reyes.

    I'm not sure why you get surprised by games like this. Baseball never follows set or predictable trends. We likely were not as good as the team that went 7-3 or as bad as the team that just lost 4 in a row. There will be ups and downs, all year... maybe more downs than up. Maybe longer downs than ups. It's not like the Angels are without weaknesses.

    Three times through the rotation, and so far just one missed start (Criswell for Pivetta,) so far. Here are the starter lines: ER/ IP 2/5 Bello 1/6 Pivetta 0/6 Crawford 1/5 Whitlock 0/6 Houck 4/5 Bello 0/5 Pivetta 1/4.2 Crawford 0/4.1 Whitlock 0/6 Houck 1/5.1 Bello 0/5 Crawford 1/5 Whitlock 4/5.2 Houck 2/4 Criswell Really, only 2 bad starts out of 15. Two very nice stretches: 5 starts: 4 ER in 28 IP 7 starts: 3 ER in 35.1 IP All I can say is, "WOW!"

    Nice to see Abreu & Yoshi get over .600 and Casas with a dinger. McGuire keeps hitting well. Rafaela getting on base twice is nice, and hopefully a sign of a turnaround, but we are hoping for miracles, now.

    I can understand wanting the A option, but I lived that one for over 30 years, more or less, and it sucked never winning a ring. I don't want to go back. This should not be real hard to achieve: 7 years 1 ring or 2 WS losses 2-3 other playoff appearances 3-4 playoff misses with no more than 2 last place finishes This might be min for me, out of 7 years: 1 ring + 2 playoffs or 4 years of strong playoff teams (maybe 2 WS losses)

    I'm fine with Reyes for utility, but when you know your SS is out for 5+ months, you should not count on him to be a FT'er. You use him until you find help from somewhere else, and he goes back to back-up. I can understand not trading a good prospect for a decent SS during a punt season, we should be able to find a plus glove SS who does not hit sub .650 at a decent price.

    We never seem to have a bench of defensive specialist, but the odd thing is, they are rarely good at hitting, too. We often have platoon guys like Refsnyder. When we had guys like Holt, we were better off.

    I get why, but with some SSs available, now, and last year, too, for cheap, I'm not sure why we have to give DHam/Romy a shot, first.

    Yes! If only one is working, it’s not good, either. Right now, only our pitching is plus.

    I’m picking B and it’s not close. I think we can do this: Win a ring every 6-7 years and compete for the playoffs in the majority of seasons, without needing to be a top 5-7 spender. If it turns out we need to spend top 2-5, then I hope JH can splurge when the time is right.
