it will be difficult to find pitchers for all the innings we are going to need them for. unless you believe ESP will each get 25+ starts and eat innings. i dont see that happening. to me Porkys value to the Red Sox increased dramatically with the way those 3 limped into the offseason.
he's the worst defensive 3bman i have ever seen. i hope the yankees keep him. but if they do trade him...hope its for a DH and not pitching. lol. cashman.
agreed.
Harmony i will save you the time:
the past 2 seasons fangraphs has porky's value as:
2018: 19.3MM
2019: 14.3MM
a 2 year / $16MM contract would be a steal for the Sox. Porky and his agent will expect to receive a better offer from another club.
we wont be able to do anything with SP unless there is wheeling /dealing. that is, if the JH reset mandate is firm.
my assumption is JBj is non tendered. we would also need to relieve ourselves of JD and/or betts to be able to afford SP and stay under to reset. i am not prepared to pay 50% of Price or Eovaldi salary to pitch for another team just so we can sign Porky.
there is only a small window for my $16/2 offer - no reset or the JD/Mook trade.
i mean most on the list are stupid young. it's a question that can't be answered for a handful of years.
there are quite a few on that list that i would love to have in the Farm or on the big club roster.
lets put a pin in the list and revisit it in 2025.
Good stuff Bell.
certainly seems to be a correlation between payroll and number of games played in the postseason.
i would bet that 3 of the top 4 teams spent more then anyone else. so that would also mean that payroll equates to success in the postseason as you arent just a 1 and done WC team or getting knocked out in the divisional round.
he gives us innings and is on the bump every 5th day. he would be a great 5th starter to have. I forget what my 2 year offer was from pages ago in this thread Harmony can probably sort me if im way off but i would be fine with a 2 year / $16MM contract for Porky.
cashman trolling yankees fans by continue to ignore the giant elephant in the room....starting pitching.
perhaps he is now getting a "pass" from all the yankees fans because houston "cheated" them out of 2 world series??
lets collect some more DH's!!!!!
i dont think i am the only Red Sox fan that never ever blamed Buckner for what transpired Game 6 in 1986. that game was blown before that groundball got past him.
for Slasher:
culprit #1: Roger Clemens. awww poor baby thought he was getting a blister on his wittle finger and pulled himself from the game.
culprit #2: Rich Gedman. forget all the bloody singles they got. the win % before the passed ball 81%. after the passed ball 40%.
culprit #3&4 (tie): schiraldi / Stanley
culprit #5: McNamara
culprit #6: evans error in the 5th. game doesnt even go extras if no error.
agree 1 million percent. i have been simply advocating giving him some reps at 1b during ST / offseason in case he is needed there and all things being equal...(if we have the 3 b's in 2020) i would prefer xyz first baseman to sit during NL games to keep JDM in the lineup instead of weakening 1 or even 2 OF spots (when JBj sits and Beni moves to CF). plus i think there is less chance of injury playing 1b then corner OF.
