if abner doubleday had the technology when the game was invented then replays, robot umps, etc would all be part of the game. EVOLVE people. its not that hard. if you are not in contact with a base/bag and are tagged with the baseball...you are OUT. don't want to be out? learn how to slide without popping off the bag. for all you "traditionalists"...take a look at some old timey video of old timey players sliding. no head first. no pop up. no swim move. you want tradition so bad? ban that stuff. but the rules were written that if you are tagged while not in contact with the bag you are OUT.

i agree with your second sentence. IMO it doesnt matter how we treat him. we can trade him today or July 31 and it will have zero bearing on where Mookie signs his contract. that will be the "outbid" part of your post.

am i? answer yes/no to the following questions: Did Derek Jeter refuse to move from SS when the team acquired one of the GOAT SS? Did Derek Jeter hold Cashman and the yankees hostage and do a PR hissy fit negotiating his final contract? Did Derek Jeter force the Yankees to wear the Re2pect patch for a month and invite the "retirement tour" which splintered the clubhouse and no doubt was a main factor in the NYY missing the postseason for the first time in a million seasons?

DD hired. the next day many of us said he would destroy the Farm but hopefully get us a parade. check. Bloom hired. the next day many of us said he would build the Farm back up and find us diamonds in teh rough. maybe even draft/obtain some quality young pitching. lower the payroll & make us a playoff team. TBD.

its pretty simple answer. earpiece for the pitcher and catcher. dugout coach calls the pitch. he can hold a clipboard in front of his face to stop the lip readers that teams will surely hire. time for baseball to embrace technology. also, think how much this will speed up the game. why wasnt this done 5 years ago? you know, like robot umps. oh, because: Tradition!
