  1. how much salary did girardi give up when pineda was slathered in pine tar?
  2. hahaha. guilty. in HFX world would Mr. Cora's seat appear to go from "ice cold" to "thawing"?
  3. i should have said "non playoff seasons". i guess most of Theo's we were in it at least until September. thats why he the GOAT.
  4. methinks WTF! seat has gone from "warm" to "red hot"
  5. maybe i need to bump my "Fire BLOOM" thread?
  6. the difference when Theo and Ben were running the team: at least in september during our last place seasons we go to see highly regarded prospects get brought up and see what our future will look like. with DD running things we got to see gorkys and jhoulys....
  7. there was a time in his mid to late 20's that Nomar was viewed by Red Sox fans exactly the same way we now drool for Mook. CP - if Mookie is not on the 2018 Red Sox and a league average hitter/defender is playing RF all season - do we still have a parade? i say yes. we coasted the division and pitching and "lesser players" stepped up offensively in the postseason.
  8. with Fenway being...Fenway i think people will always show up for games. i believe what takes the big "hit" during down years is the number of eyes tuning in to NESN. that is what hits JH in the wallet.
  9. yes, i agree. i was really referring to the dozen games per season that i would have JD play there.
  10. great post. and right about the same place i was.
  11. its like Madlibs
  12. i expect a $240MM team to win the division. anything less then that is a disappointing season. having a parade every 4 years helps ease the pain of the occasional year where we miss the postseason.
  13. it must be bad news. good news would have been released already.
  14. HR: Jason Giambi 2 (3, 2 off Pedro Martinez, 5th inn, 0 on, 0 outs to CF-RF; 7th inn, 0 on, 2 outs to CF);
  15. true. it will be interesting to watch the 2021 CBA battle unfold.....michael buffer better keep his voice ready for that one....
  16. but that $10MM tax would make Mooks contract equate to $41MM per year instead of $31MM per year. he is profitable for JH at the second number. we have to reset the LT in order to obtain Mook on a LTC when he hits FA.
  17. i feel more cheated by giambi in 2003 and his steroid homeruns then i do by the astros in 2017 with their garbage can banging. as for the yankees in 2017 and the banging? they got what they deserved. a cheaters fate.
  18. he was a dirtdog!
  19. blake swihart on line 2....
  20. Clutch! Chock! Robot Umps Now! WAR!
  21. the 10-12 games per season i have JD penciled in at 1b i am only expecting him to jog to the bag and catch throws from infielders. any of the other "first baseman" stuff i am giving him a "pass" on - balls in dirt, bunt coverage, cut 4's, throws up the line, flips to pitcher covering first, throws to 2b to try and doubleplay, etc.
  22. Tanner. such a freakin awesome baseball name. rooting for this kid. bigly.
  23. i dont know bell. some of the best run sports franchises (pick a sport) - the owner hires capable FO personnel and allow them to run the ship. some of the worst run sports franchises (pick a sport) the owner gets involved in decision making. I prefer my owners to hire the FO folk and let them do their jobs without interfering. obviously mandating a budget should be the responsibility of the owner. what that budget is spent on should be the decision of the GM / PoBA
  24. still waiting for you to respond how we (Sox fans) should feel about the 2003 ALCS. specifically the 2 fence scraping HR's by steroid abuser Giambi in game 7.
