  1. Well, I was way off Tomorrows another day. Go Sox!
  2. Perhaps its the situational-neutrality of these metrics? UZR is Situation-neutral On purpose and for good reasons. Is there a LI for OF Defense that one could include alongside with UZR?
  3. Does UZR & DRS rate Fenway’s RF more difficult than Fenway’s CF? Is there some difficulty-adjustment that I’m missing?
  4. “Bradley is a very good CF; he is not the best in the game” I say it a little differently: “Bradley is a very good CF; he is not far from the best in the game”
  5. What have you thought of him defensively, i thought he was 5 tool? If he was on the Sox I’d care about his defense, but now he’s simply fantasy fodder to me.
  6. Did you see fangraphs’ latest piece on Mookie? It’s a good read with two gifs that are fun to watch. I don’t 100% agree w/ them. Obviously most of his power and HRs come from pulling the ball (can say that about most hitters), I just think he uses the whole field pretty well when not hitting a HR. They just did a piece on Moncada as well, which is kinda weird as I was just asking about him on here (Pretty much for fantasy baseball purposes). Some of it’s over my head but... I think his 2 HRs this week has woken some people up.
  7. I remember an absolute beating we handed Manaea last year. He doesn’t really strike anybody out vs a lineup that doesn’t really strike out all that often. Irresistible force meets movable object. Tune-in to the 9:00 massacre if you dare to get your stupid mind blown right out of your stupid forehead. Oh #Stayhumble
  8. I’m worried about his personal tax bracket after 2021. Does that count?
  9. I say I’d extend JBJ. 1) I think his extension would be easier to afford than an XB extension. 2) We could tolerate better up the middle infield defense (improving our overall up the middle defense while keeping JBJ) at the cost of sacrificing some offense.
  10. Offense-wise, We lost Ortiz to retirement (clubhouse-wise too I would bet). We lost Pedroia to injury. More or less lost XB to injury, he returned but never really recovered fully. HanRam was playing hurt all year. 3B was a mess. That’s my top 5, and these things start to add up after a while. Besides approach, adding JD, who’s a great hitter not just a HR hitter, to an offense who’s only major flaw was lack of power and HRs has aready paid off. Pitching. Well. Again Injuries. The bad: Wright went from 33 games the year previous to 5 games. Price went from 35 games to 16 games. Or something like that? Don’t quote me on exact number of games started. The good: Pom took Wright’s place as our #2. Sale took Porcello’s place as our #1. The ugly: Porcello took his own place with the 2015 version of himself that went away from the sole reason we signed him in the first place (his Sinker) (AGAIN!) (this is Twice he’s done this!!!!) (MOTHERf***ER!!!) and changed his s*** for no justifiable reason whatsoever. Why would one abandon one of baseball’s top Sinkers for a middling, straight as an arrow, average or below league average velocity, fastball ... over launch angle trending? Really? Why would you abandon your most effective pitch, a launch angle killer, the one that induces the most ground balls, the most swing and misses, and was TOTALLY WORKING btw see CY? I just can’t understand it. Twice. He learned nothing from the last stunt. ... twice [Deep breathes. Just breathe... ignore the oncoming migraine] THIS years team so great tho! I love this team. Having a blast:o
  11. I didn’t think it was #1 either: We’ll go with #3 then
  12. Gomes kinda called it
  13. crypt [snickers] That truly captures how I imagine him. Nice work.
  14. It’ll be magic, I just know it.
  15. True and there’s no way of telling how managers and coaches throughout the league weigh an error or how much they factor them in when voting for GG. Depending on how much Old School or New School they are and what not. SABR only accounts for 25% of the vote. How much Old School is in the other 75% I wonder?
  16. Devers’ error may not hurt us, I just don’t think he’ll win the Gold Glove is all.
  17. Most media outlets showed a super edited version of that confrontation which only showed Pedro pushing him down with zero context on what led to that.
  18. Not necessarily. Hey, you’re the one that made the broad-sweeping, inside a vacuum, revisionist comment about DD that ignores everything that came before him. Ya know, f*** it. You’re right. It was magic. Whatever.
  19. On a certain end of the spectrum he could be considered elite
  20. So, is JF a lock for Reds’ manager? They could do worse.
  21. We can play the What If game all day long on this topic. I’m simply looking at the facts and what actually transpired. Ben would have HAD to trade some prospects eventually. But that’s not even my argument. All I’m essentially saying is “ we wouldn’t have This, without That”. I try not to be too ideological on the GM front. ( Theo’s my favorite as well, but even Theo strayed from his game plan towards the end). I get DD’s recent moves just as much as I got Ben’s non-moves at the time. I didn’t even mind the losing. I thoroughly enjoyed watching a guy like Betts come up through the ranks and make a promising impact for example. I’m sure winning 3 WS in that span of 10 years previous helped quench my thirst too. So what if we lost? Our future looked bright. And here we are. I’m barely surprised by this 2018 club (our overall Team Pitching I am a bit surprised by but other than that no). This team has been a long time in the making. It’s not about one or two bad signings or one or two iffy trades from either GM that many teams are guilty of making anyways. We can pit Theo vs BC vs DD against each other, but the more I think about it, I’m a big fan of all three.
  22. It’s hard for me to look at it that way though. It’s not like DD had anything to do with our prospects that now make up a great portion of this team or the ones he used for trades. At the same time, If DD did anything “wrong”, It’s hard to blame him. It was a tough market to deal top prospects for proven talent at the time of his trades. I’ve no major complaints.
