  1. Gsellman from the Mets makes more sense. He’s only just started closing for them this season w/ 3 career saves. Offer some minor league hitters and make sure 1 of them is a catcher. Maybe you throw in Swihart on the deal. He wouldn’t be a rental. Gsellman is arb eligible 2020, so he wouldn’t put us over either. I’d offer a nice package for him, but he still might be over-kill on what we need to upgrade our BP.
  2. It was pretty funny tho;) hahaha
  3. Right? I’m mean, we may only need an good middle reliever. Someone with set-up potential. Not another Closer destined to take a back seat behind Kimbrel.
  4. I just hope we don’t go broke over some other team’s current big name Closer. I’m hoping they dig a little deeper here.
  5. The logic makes sense, especially if Devers sticks at 3B for the majority of his career. It’s typically easier to solve 1B, even going on short term contracts year to year or even two- three years, which we’ve done for some time now. The hot corner seems a bit trickier to solve.
  6. We’re already in a Rolls Royce and We’re driving to November. We may need a new gas cap or maybe a back tail light, but I think we’ll get there.
  7. I agree, I tend to think waiting until the 11th hour gives us our best shot at making a nice upgrade, wherever that may be. If needed. I remember liking DD’s deadline deals the past few seasons for the most part (Nunez, Ziegler). If I didn’t 100% like a deal, I at least agreed with the direction of it (Pom).
  8. Defense-wise, yes. Offense-wise, no.
  9. That is the age old quagmire. Of course your opinion is obvisiously different than mine. It would require a difference of opinion. They do exist.
  10. I’m well aware of his past BP experience. I question his effectiveness anywhere right now.
  11. Maybe practicing bunting will help shorten his swing? He hit a solo shot yesterday, is it possible it has already helped him? That’s a fast return:o
  12. Eh, I’m not so convinced. Can we trade Pom to sure-up our BP? (Asking for a ... friend?) lol
  13. It’s a toss up. Natick is either bat-s*** crazy or horse-s*** crazy. But theres crazy in there somewhere, that we can be sure of.
  14. How awesome is it that we don’t need to trade for a SP at the deadline? Pretty godamn awesome if you ask me. My guess is that we’re still waiting to see on Pedroia for 2B and Thornburg for the BP. Let’s assume both come back and the best case scenario happens and they’re both upgrades and stay healthy (long shot, I know), what would be our biggest weakness then? 1B offense? CF offense? Catcher Offense?
  15. I’m on the MLB At Bat app on my phone. And yes they did indeed updated Paxton’s earned Run total. From 1 to 5 actually. Yikes!
  16. You right. JD’s ehh .. couldn’t been ruled a hit not an error. I think the official ruling may have got it wrong.
  17. Go sox! I definitely didn’t see that coming. XB hits another HR dead CF.
  18. Yeah but those errors killed him. 6 runs, 1 earned.
  19. Dozier isn’t having a great season thus far, but he’s the kind of player that can turn it on and never stop. 2017 GG. Not sure what the cost in trade would be? But this would make 100 times more sense than trading Devers for Machado IMHO.
  20. But I don’t want Machado. I’m perfectly content with Devers. He hasn’t even played a full season combined yet. 125 Games, 123 total hits, 20 Hrs. Arb eligible 2021, FA 2024. Sox need long term cost contolled players to resign Betts and whoever else they can long term.
  21. Ugh. Devers for Machado would be a horribly ugly trade long term. No thanx.
  22. Devers is still a very young player with tremendous bat speed. He lives for a 97 mph FB. To expect zero growing pains is kinda silly. Besides, there would be nothing for him to learn by sending him back down. He needs to take his MLB lumps and learn from them.
  23. I remember at least one writer was calling the M’s done without Cano. I couldn’t see it, not with that lineup. In fact, it was even a little insulting as a baseball fan in general. Gordon, Segura, Haniger, Cruz. One of the best SPs in MLB in Paxton, one of the top Closers too, in Diaz. Marco Gonzales doing very well... Theres a lot to like about that M’s team. Boston vs Seatle 7 out of our next 10 games... ? This could be the best week and a half of baseball yet this season.
  24. Is that right? Damn. Kinda puts things in perspective. I’m not really worried about him. Winning makes his (or any other player’s) struggles easier to forgive. Our season started with XB’s hot hitting, to Hanley’s, to Betts’, to Moreland, to JD’s, to Beni’s etc. Just how it is it seems.
