  1. I’m not convinced other teams’ Managers and coaching staffs don’t take errors into account when voting for GGs. Red Sox as a team (assuming multiple sources have updated their stats) have 5. Devers has 4 of those.
  2. A lot of time for that possibility yet.
  3. And now its another blow-out:cool:
  4. That was a tough catch by Moreland.
  5. Well, he has taken longer to develop than say ... Devers or Mookie or Beni. I was just curious if anyone thought he makes a nice leap towards that this year rather than next year. As far as the Sale trade (whick I didn’t mention)... not only did I like it. I damn near predicted it (not all the pieces) a month before it happened. It was the only real move to make that off season. But I don’t think we necessarily have to talk about that trade in order to talk about Moncada. Fantasy baseball sources have his Hard-Hit rate at 55.2%, second only to J.D. Martinez this season which is interesting. In a changing baseball world where Stike Outs don’t seem to matter anymore and Launch Angle popularity seems to keep growing, well.. I’ll just say it’s an interesting time. Probably the best time ever for a player like Moncada to ease into an MLB career considering his strike out rate. I’m still intrigued on how it’ll go for him. I feel like he’ll be Rougned Odor only with more SBs. Is that a good comparison?
  6. In case anyone was wondering septuagenarian Meaning: 1. Type of endangered, amphibious canine common around 1200 AD. 2. Obscure Free Mason Chapter. Also common around 1200 AD
  7. One at a time, please. This topic clearly needs it’s own thread. Slow down
  8. I’m fine with Wright as our long relief guy\RP #6 or #7. He’s been out for a while now and needs to prove that his earlier success wasn’t a fluke. I’m of the few that still think highly of him (talent-wise). Things could always fall into place for a bigger role for him next season.
  9. Hahaha! I’m dying over here.
  10. So, Yoan Moncada last 3 games: 04-16: 1/3, SB 04-17: 2/4 R, (2-R) HR, 2RBI, SB 04-18: 2/7 3 R, (GS) HR, 4 RBI, SB Is this kid starting to click or is it a fallacy?
  11. That’s what you think. Ah f***, sorry... TWYT
  12. Yeah! Plus, Baseball is too full of acronyms already. We don’t neeeeeeeed your acronyms baby boomers! We’re chock full! Millennials take note. I’m f***in watching you too!
  13. I find my self thinking about this every day. I was giving a hard think this morning about Leon and his value to the team. It didn’t last long. The moment I realized if Vaz got hurt and we didn’t have Leon to go to we’d be absolutely f***ed. Then on to Swihart. I really like his mechanics (?) at the plate. His swing. The fact he’s Switch hitter. I like his speed on the base paths (tho some say he’s only fast for a catcher... but from what I’ve seen I would have to disagree). I think it’s also telling that the Sox keep trying to find multiple positions on the field for him to play (This week it was 2B, practicing w/ Pedroia). I think the Sox like his swing too. Enough to put all this time and effort into him. And yes, if he had any options left he’d be doing all this in the minors. But still. They could easliy have labeled him PR/PH/OF/C and left it at that if they didn’t see any further potential. I don’t think they want to lose him to another team when the squeeze happens. And your right, Nunez isn’t riding the bench. I loved that pick-up last season. I loved bringing him back too. If any player that makes Holt reduntant, it’s Nunez. And I like Holt. I just wouldn’t want to lose Swihart (potential) or Leon (insurance) or even Lin (IF Defense, Potential) over him. Edit: technically we won’t lose Lin. But w/ both Nunez & Holt, I doubt he ever sees the light of day.
  14. Aawww s***! He just called you a matriculater son! You gonna take that??!!
  15. Yes! My fictional budget can’t afford Ellsbury’s salary.
  16. I like him but he tends to talk a little too much.
  17. A healthy Pedroia would definitely be an improvement on both sides of the ball. A Pedroia with nagging injuries wouldn’t be a plus.
  18. Imagine getting XB back in the lineup with the offense that’s clickin’ right now. Then we eventually add Pedroia? That’ll be sick!
  19. Considering Angels’ lineup the best we’ve faced yet this season, He looks to be holding his own.
  20. Sloth w/ the Grand Slam!
  21. Yeah I tend not to buy into the Mookie Hype machine. It’s hard to take seriously. He never had 3 HR games in the minors and we’ve seen this before... and .. ... [voice fades out incoherently... ]
  22. Love Uehara, but A. Miller is Closing for MY fictional All Ex Red Sox team. With Kopech getting brought up early August.
  23. I think JF is a fine manager for a predominantly veteran team. I think what Betts & XB have alluded to about last season should carry some weight. They “could’ve had more fun”. Yeah, I know that might sound ridiculous. Players making millions doing what they love... f*** your fun, right? But it is what it is. Last season could’ve been more about atmosphere than anything. And who knows? Maybe they’ll be a better team for it in the long run. But I think Cora may be a better fit because of the youth on this team and him being maybe more relatable. Maybe more approachable even.
  24. I don’t expect long losing streaks. We didn’t have them last season and we’re an even better team this season. Honestly, IMO, if there was a time for The Rays to take advantage and beat the Sox it would be earlier in the season when both teams are just trying to get their feet on solid ground, get into a groove. They had their opening day spoiler. Good for them. But I’m thinking that WAS the worst time to actually face the Rays. Now the Sox snap the Angels 7 game winning streak, beat Ohtani (every other team has been mystified by him), Sox shut down Angels’ AL leading offense, and trounce to a lopsided win. They’re still the hottest team to beat at the moment (besides us). Look, I do think our true test is facing the Atros and the Guardians. Both of those teams our the true competition. Until the Sox beat them I’ll hold off on WS talk. But the Sox can’t play those teams every week or even every month. That’s not their fault.
  25. Per ESPN: With three three-homer games in his Red Sox career, Betts has tied Ted Williams for most three-homer games in Red Sox history.
