Ugh. Now that WAS a s*** move. But unlike Porcello & Eovaldi, there was nothing to point to to justify it.

I’m of the opinion that an Ace #1 SP is worth more to any team than a Closer. The amount of innings thrown alone, on principle... I don’t think we over paid for Sale. I love Kimbrel but I do think it was an over pay and maybe cart before the horse in a way too. I’m not saying Kimbrel was a bad move, especially in hindsight, but when I compare both the Kimbrel & Sale moves side by side, on principle, one trade was clearly better than the other.

For a guy like Mookie, I would also look at the “MVP type” year(s) he’s already given us on the cheap. No? I cld be wrong. Wouldn’t we be paying atleast some of a huge contract for what he did prior?

I agree in general with this. Finding diamonds in the rough isn’t quite the right saying, but close enough I’ll go with it. Although I still think the Sale trade was his best, these low key mid-season acquisitions are equally as important if you’re trying to build a winner.

Unless there’s some need in the future to trade one of 3 of our catchers to make our team better (like next season er something), I really like carrying all 3. It’s not the worst thing in the world, particularly to how this team is presently built. I like having immediate depth to go to for the most physically grueling position in baseball. Swihart has other skills Vaz & Leon don’t have. Carrying 3 catchers may seem like a lot at a glance, but I don’t think it’s a situation of redundancy.

I don’t mean to single you out as an attack or anything. I just think that narrative is way overblown. We criticize anything & everything here six ways to sunday. Criticizing 1 or 2 moves out a dozen isn’t what I would necessarily call hating.

I was shocked, I thought they’d move Pearce to 2B (I thought he had a little experience there, I cld be wrong tho). Maybe they couldn’t? Either way, it was a fun novelty to have Betts play 2B and a little crazy, but it shouldn’t continue i agree.
