  1. I hope you right
  2. That's true I guess.
  3. Hmmm...Betts bats leadoff though and has exactly one more RBI than Trout at the moment. Does anyone think Betts wouldn't have comparable RBI numbers to JD, or Davis, or Ramirez if he batted lower in the order as well? I really hope the voters for these awards (managers, writers) take these kind of things into account this year. He could've hit .500 on the season and still not lead the league in RBIs, batting leadoff. Lindor has batted .281 on the season and has 89 RBI compared to Betts who's batted .343 with 80 RBI. Who's fault is that? Hint: Not Mookie's. Does WPA matter at all? Kinda seems like this should matter the most if we're talking MVP Win Probability Added (WPA) 1.Betts • BOS 5.8 2.Bregman • HOU 5.6 3.Martinez • BOS 5.4 4.Benintendi • BOS 4.0 5.Trout • LAA 3.9 6.Bogaerts • BOS 3.8 7.Haniger • SEA 3.6 8.Davis • OAK 3.5 9.Ramirez • CLE 3.4 10.Castellanos • DET 3.1
  4. Everyone! Give it up for DJ Rhinophyma! Comin’ wit all the classics.
  5. Doesn’t matter. S5 used WAR. End of discussion. Close the thread. Lol:rolleyes:
  6. Just saw that. Ouch
  7. As opposed to .389 in ‘14? Still a high .378 in ‘16, so it wasn’t really unthinkable. He was still 30 yrs old for most the year (his b-day is late Aug). And i’d say peak years usually start declining around age 32. (28-32 is peak range last time I cared to check).
  8. I’m in total agreement. A couple things I will say, is that I get the feeling that they may give Leon some rest this final month. I don’t know how much rest, but it should give more looks to both Vaz and Swi. The closer we get to the playoffs, the more we get a better idea who’ll make up our pen. I’d be nice if Swihart gets as many (in-game) reps with the bullpen as he can, as I don’t see him off our postseason roster. I don’t think its too late for Swi to establish a better rapport with most of these pen guys. In a ‘plan for the worst’ type of scenario is what I’m getting at. Today didn’t work out so well score-wise, but I think it’s the right plan if/when we can afford it (Yanks lost anyway).
  9. Another thing i’ve noticed lately is that instead of JBJ hoping the ball finds his swing, he’s proactively adjusting his swings to find the ball more. All that launch-angle stuff is great when you can actually connect, but one has to make actual contact for that to happen. Sometimes you have to try and do something with the pitches you’re getting, and forget about the pitches you wish you were getting.
  10. I kinda did. My only question was if he’d stay healthy or not.
  11. Yeah I liked Ozark a lot. Good to know the 2nd sesson is out now. Last two series I’ve been diggin’ are Castle Rock (Stephen King series) and Sharp Objects (Gillian Flyn series from ... I think her first book?).
  12. My god, you’re ugly.
  13. Ha! I’ll put it this way: I’m sure it doesn’t hurt
  14. Only vaguely. I eventually had to drop Lester from my Fantasy team some time after the AS Break. I remember his opening day stinker, and he did recover for most of the first half. Then his other stinker opening the 2nd half after the AS Break was eerily similar to his horrible opening day start.
  15. Rodriguez .408 w Leon (43) .687 w Vaz (401) N/A w Swihart Leon is the better choice, but the sample size differential is large. I’m curious how much last night’s game swung Vaz’s numbers for ERod.
  16. Solid post here. Thanks Moon
  17. Ya’ never know nowadays... did you feel around?
  18. I see it the same way. Vaz should be back this weekend w/ a whole month left to play. During his rehab he’s caught both ERod & Wright during their own rehabs. If we plan on having both them back, why leave out Vaz? I’d have Swihart working primarily with the BP for the later innings to prepare for the postseason. Swi’s been money PHing. I wouldn’t change a thing w/ our catching core, unless Vaz looks downright horrible on both sides of the field. Or another injury happens with any of them.
  19. I’d prefer it doesn’t come down to all that.
  20. As far as last night goes, 2 out of his 3 SOs last night were him looking at borderline called strikes if I remember correctly. Some bad luck maybe?
  21. Mookie was 2/3s the way there going full speed when he looked over. I doubt he gets the out at 3B. We’re also planning on them taking the easy out at 1B to help stop the bleeding with zero outs and already giving up 4 runs that inning. Trading an out to score easier and make it a 5 run inning was the smart play IMO. I thought scoring one more at that point could be very helpful and very possible. If I’d have known we’d score 7 more times rather than just once... sure. Its an in the moment vs hindsight thing, that’s all.
  22. So, you think it’s smart game stategy to play for the ole’ pinch hit triple?
  23. That cris-crossed my mind as well last night. Usually with that type of inning a team walks a ton. I don’t think there was one BB.
  24. Kinsler was a great pick up. It’s like having 2 Pedroia’s, one that’s hurt and one that we can still play. What’s not to like?
