  1. Porcello was effective last night. It will be interesting to see if Price & Sale can even last 5 in their next outings.
  2. I only feel they have a chance to win when E-Rod pitches. 48 to play? They will probably go 8-40. I'm miserable today!
  3. I surrendered to my Yankee friends.
  4. Well okay, even if just to watch Devers and Bogaerts, I'll keep watching.
  5. Feels like neither Johnson or Velazquez even showed up this year. Or Wright.
  6. I'm all for sending Sale & Price to the bullpen for the remainder of the season.
  7. For as much as we've been upset about the Sox pitching, we've been very excited about our hitting, and the Yankees really held our great hitters to a pittance of hits this weekend. Hats off to the Yankees, they looked awesome.
  8. I'm tempted to get into other interests and check back in on the Sox in like 4 years ...
  9. I have to reluctantly agree that you can't keep running Sale & Price out for starts where they are blown out in the 3rd or 4th innings. They dropped from aces to not even being capable major league starters. I have whiplash. Sale I think could still thrive as a reliever. Price, gosh I just don't know what to do with him.
  10. Ugh. Crippling.
  11. If I can get a bonafide young ace starter, I trade Mookie in a heartbeat.
  12. I think Hyun-Jin Ryu of the 11-2 record 1.53 ERA will be a free agent this offseason.
  13. He really isn't a troll and I respect his contributions to the forum.
  14. Yeah, when they signed Sale to an extension I was like, "Are you sure?" but Xander was a great extension. Mookie will overplay his hand in free agency based on his one off the charts year a la Jacoby Ellsbury style.
  15. Xander Freakin' Bogaerts!!! This might be a wasted year for the Red Sox, but the ascension of Xander and Rafael anchors the team. It looks like we'll be losing 9-6 games for a long time to come.
  16. Yeah I'm confused; I thought arbitration eligible meant the team, if they want, can cut the player. I'd be surprised if they keep JBJ next year.
  17. To be fair, Rusney Castillo is batting .290 at Pawtucket, they just don't want his salary added to the luxury cap.
  18. I hear you. Extending Sale may turn out to have been a horrendous mistake. Especially if it means we can't keep Mookie.
  19. I missed the July JBJ check-in (I was on holiday myself), but now that it's August I think it's time to see how Jackie's doing again. Batting average (.226): 72/75 - Rougned Odor, despite having such an interesting name, is the league's worst hitter at .208 On-base percentage (.320): 52/75 - congratulations to Jackie! Here he's made some real strides. Rougned Odor is also the worst on-base player right now at .270 Slugging percentage (.394): 66/75 - Yolmer Sanchez of the White Sox has the dubious pleasure of being the league's worst slugger at .328 OPS (.714): 64/75 - Yolmer Sanchez "leads" this category as well at a measly .638 Home Runs (11): tied for 86th RBIs (41): tied for 77th Steals (7): tied for 35th Walks (40): tied for 25th, Jackie's highest showing So, he's clearly better than Yolmer Sanchez and Rougned Odor, but they do have the cool names advantage over him. Overall, I think he's plateaued for the season, but I hope I'm wrong.
  20. Hard to believe Sale & Price are the new Hanley & Pablo. I really hope they improve next year. Porcello will most likely be gone, so they will probably get a new starter. What is the free agent market looking like this offseason for starters & relievers?
  21. At this point I'm also watching for personal records. Devers is poised to take over the batting average lead in the AL.
  22. "Pomeranz is 2-9 this season with a 5.68 ERA after signing with the Giants as a free agent. He had his best season in 2017, when he went 17-6 with a 3.32 ERA for Boston." Wow it's sad that he never regained his form.
  23. When you come up to bat, you probably just drank some Gatorade, had a cold compress around your shoulders, and maybe sat near the fan. I think in a hot game, the batter has the advantage over the pitcher, and the longer the inning goes, the bigger that disparity becomes.
  24. Yes exactly it was an extremely generous offer albeit for one year, and I feel no pity for his plight.
  25. For what it's worth, I cut David Price some slack for not making it through the fifth last night. It was and continues to be brutally hot & humid in Boston. I think it would be impossible to deliver a quality start in such conditions.
