  1. 100%. Eliminating the Yankees from the postseason has been my dream since the season started.
  2. There are 22 games remaining. If the Sox play .500 ball the rest of the way out, that will give them 90 wins. Hopefully, they do better than that.
  3. I think people don't give Bloom enough credit.
  4. Interesting. Tough call. Losing a WC game to the Yankees would be the worst. I like our chances though.
  5. As a fan, I understand the emotional roller coaster. August was an extremely painful month. We just have to try not to get too high or too low when things are going great or going terribly. Easier said than done. We are 1 week into September and the Sox are still playing competitive baseball. I think this is far more than what most people could have asked for when the season started.
  6. The Jays are closing in. They have an incredible +136 run differential. They are better than what their record indicates. That said, I am still very confident that the Sox will be in the playoffs.
  7. I feel that it is my duty to point out that the Orioles have only won 43 games, and 7 of those wins have come against the Yankees.
  8. This is true. But there is also no such thing as momentum, in terms of future performance. You're either a good team or you're not. That's what it boils down to.
  9. Yankees fans are worried. Very worried.
  10. Wishful thinking on your part. The Yankees are in the midst of a collapse. Perhaps they won't make the playoffs.
  11. Since becoming a Yankee, Gallo is hitting .130/.291/.325/.617 with 61 strikeouts and 28 walks. (151 PAs) Over the same time period, Dalbec is hitting .321/.412/.702/1.115 with 25 strikeouts and 11 walks. (97 PAs)
  12. I have posted that Barnes has lost his confidence. I think confidence is a big factor in performance. (I have no proof of that.) I don't think losing confidence is the same as choking.
  13. It doesn't matter how the run differential occurs. The Mariners are 29-16 in one run games and 9-25 in blowout games. A team that is getting blown out that often is not a good team.
  14. Since this thread was started, the Yankees have gone 5-7.
  15. In the immortal words of Tom Tango, "Momentum? Shmomentum!"
  16. Manfred needs to stop. He, not analytics, is ruining the game.
  17. Barnes xERA is 2.50 and his SIERA is 2.28. Except for last year, his peripheral stats are always better than his ERA. Barnes is a better pitcher than what you give him credit for. How can a player be so 'clutch' the first 2/3 of a season, then suddenly become a choker? You want to say that his clutch skills were a fluke, but choking is the real deal?
  18. There you have it. Richards for closer.
  19. I don't think anyone has said that.
  20. Unless there is a physical reason to do so, one should not make decisions based on recent outings, but rather on longer term data and projections.
  21. Yes, he is an option as well.
  22. I like Whitlock in the role he is currently being used in. I wouldn't make him the closer. I think that Barnes needs a break for a couple of games to get out of his own head. I believe Barnes will be back to being reliable Barnes soon enough. In the meantime, I'd probably go with Taylor or Ottavino, depending on matchups.
  23. I have said many times that momentum exists. The Yankees have momentum. It just does not give them any added edge in winning the next game, beyond what advantage they might have already have due to the strength of their team versus their opponents.
