  1. This had me cracking up way more than it had a right to.
  2. 5-5 in their last 10 games.
  3. Don't ever mess with mojo or a win streak.
  4. It shouldn't be all about the money for the owners either.
  5. I think the Jays are the better team and a much tougher opponent, but I'd still rather play them in the WC game than the Yankees. I want the Yankees out.
  6. I am pretty sure that if a tie in W-L records means one team goes home and the other doesn't, they have to play a one-game playoff. They only go to a tiebreaker if both teams are already in the playoffs. That said, I agree with you that the Sox' chances are still pretty good, even if the Yankees sweep us. That said, I really don't want to get swept by the Yankees.
  7. If I were Betts' mom, I would still tell him to take the deal.
  8. Because it shouldn't be all about the money.
  9. I can't say that I feel this way about all players that leave us, but it certainly applies to Betts.
  10. As much as I have criticized Dombrowski, I was on board with both of these extensions. Thanks Dave! Oddly enough, I was more against the initial trade for Sale than I was against his extension.
  11. I only predicted 87 wins. LOL
  12. I would love to win the series, but my feeling is that we just need to avoid getting swept. The Yankees and the Jays will be playing each other next, and one of those teams is guaranteed to lose 2 games. Good news for the Red Sox!
  13. The Jays, like the Yankees before them, are peaking too early. They, too, shall come back down to earth. In the meantime, the Sox are still pacing themselves, then BAM! The other playoff teams won't know what hit them.
  14. I fully endorse this post.
  15. The Yankees have too many games left against the Sox and the Jays to say it's over. Of course, the Yankees would have to win both series, at minimum, but I wouldn't count them out, as much as I'd like to.
  16. I have always disagreed with you about the 3 batter minimum, but I would hire you as commissioner based on your last statement alone.
  17. The cheat notes don't bother me that much, but as a teacher, I would be happier if the players did their homework before taking the field. That said, people don't remember anything anymore. It's all at their fingertips.
  18. I agree that the Giants or the Dodgers possibly being eliminated in a one game WC playoff is kind of whack, especially considering how far behind the other wildcard teams are. That said, I like having the 2nd wildcard team and I think teams have to have some kind of incentive to win the division. Outside of the extreme lopsidedness that we will see in the NL game this year, I kind of like the one game playoff. I wouldn't mind a 5 game series, but then the other teams would have to sit idle for about a week.
  19. Sorry Max, but I don't agree with that logic. Failure to even get one out on a double play ball changes the whole dynamic of the inning. Also, I don't think Richards gave up 5 hits, though either way, that doesn't change my opinion in my previous statement. As far as starting Shaw at DH, I think Cora is running rather low on options. But yes, it turned out to be a great decision.
  20. These were all one run wins. Luck plays a huge role. Any of those games could have gone either way.
  21. Dalbec has been the best offensive player in baseball since the trade deadline. Also, I agree that his defense has improved. On a side note, in a short sample, Travis Shaw has turned into a nice little pickup.
  22. The line up that you posted looks really good, no doubt. I am one who values defense very highly. In last night's game alone, we saw what happens with poor defense (5 run bottom of the 4th for the White Sox) and what happens when good defensive plays are made. Ultimately, I think you have to play the best overall player at each position. While I prefer strong defense up the middle, there's no question that Bogaerts helps the team more than someone like supposed defensive wizard Jose Iglesias would.
  23. The Jays are the anti-Mariners.
  24. I actually agree that the Yankees would be an easier opponent for us than the Jays would be. On paper, the Jays have played far better than either the Sox or the Yankees have played. That said, a loss to the Yankees in an elimination game would be much harder for me to take than a loss to the Jays. Anyone but the Yankees. At the same time, a win over the Yankees in an elimination game would be far more satisfying than a win over the Jays.
