  1. Welcome 67. Good to see you.
  2. I've been wondering if there is any chance that Buchholz is tipping his pitches when he's pitching from the stretch?
  3. Not a "Defender of Buchholz". A defender of: 1. The decision to pick up his option, which you agree with. 2. His 2nd to last outing, which was not as bad as you made it out to be. On the topic of who is being more biased about whether another team wanted Buchholz or not, we'll just have to disagree.
  4. Buchholz and Kelly just threw back to back clunkers and it makes things look dire. And yet, the team is in first place, has the best record in the AL, and is on pace to win 98 games. I'm not saying that we don't need another starter. We almost assuredly do. However, Dombrowski cannot make a panic move every time the team loses 2 or 3 games in a row. I am 100% sure that he is gauging interest levels with other teams and that he has the situation under control. Patience people. It's not even June yet.
  5. I had forgotten how much I like your posts.
  6. Cop out statement.
  7. There was speculation early last season (again) that Papi's bat speed had slowed down and he was, therefore, not generating the same power. However, his exit velocity was still among the top batters in baseball, which offered some evidence against that speculation.
  8. Actually, I think most of these stats do enhance our understanding of the game. Looking at one stat alone probably won't tell you much, but used in combination with other stats can give you some valuable insight.
  9. Obviously, there is something not right when he is pitching out of the stretch, whether it be mental or physical. It seems that as soon as he gets a baserunner on, he loses it.
  10. 1. Nowhere did Rosenthal or anyone else say that the Sox gave the Mariners a choice between Miley and Buchholz. My issue here is with you saying things like "if the Mariners wanted Clay, he would be gone". That statement has no merit. It might be true, but it might also be the case where the Mariners wanted Buchholz and the Sox said no. 2. In terms of defending Buchholz' pitching, I have never stated or even suggested that he wasn't having a bad season. In fact, I recently stated that he should be the odd man out when Rodriguez comes back. I merely said that while his previous outing was not good, it was not as terrible as some of you are making it out to be, which is the truth. 3. Please don't talk to me about my ability to be objective, which is akin to the whole 'you're a homer' attack. You're better than that.
  11. Time for JBJ to start a new streak. Kelly's got this! Go Sox!
  12. LOL This is the exact reason why I don't have any friends.
  13. Nice run VA. Unfortunately, Buchholz has been stinky enough to overcome any good mojo.
  14. I have not seen a source that said that the Mariners were choosing between Miley and Buchholz, but rather there was a deal centered around a Boston pitcher, believed to be Miley or Buchholz, not sure which one. Perhaps you are interpreting it the way you are because of your opinion of Buchholz.
  15. It was not a terrible start. His Fangraphs Gamescore for that game was 42. By their definition, a Gamescore between 40 and 50 is "Below Average". As I said, it wasn't a good start, but it wasn't terrible.
  16. I have read the tweets. Nowhere did it say that the Mariners were offered Buchholz and Miley. Rosenthal was not sure which of the two were offered, the way I read it. And even if the Mariners chose Miley over Buchholz, which I said I wouldn't be surprised by, that doesn't mean that they were so opposed to getting Clay that they would laugh and hang up the phone. Maybe the Mariners preferred Clay but a deal could not be worked out for him. You don't know.
  17. It wasn't a good start, but nor was it as bad a start as some of you are making it out to be.
  18. Sorry, but I have to call BS on that, and it's very rare that I call BS on your posts. I have still read nothing that says that the Mariners preferred Miley. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mariners did prefer Miley for several reasons, but you trying to paint this as the Mariners laughing and hanging up the phone at the mention of Buchholz has no merit. Buchholz pitched very well last year and his contract is very reasonable.
  19. Farrell stated today that it would be "a while" before we see Holt again.
  20. VA for President. Best poster on this board, IMO. She tells it like it is, short and simple.
  21. There's no concern, unless you're superstitious, which Jackie apparently isn't. I am, but I should know better.
  22. I'm surprised you didn't go with "No brainer!"
  23. Only if it's Clay. It is acceptable for all other starters.
