  1. Game over, Guardians win 2-1. That's a tough loss to take for the Jays.
  2. Yup. Baby steps.
  3. At least he made a productive out, which ultimately led to a run.
  4. Mookie doubles to lead off the inning. Let's get back to putting up a crooked number in the first inning!
  5. Not happening this time. It's a new month.
  6. Just heard OB say that the Sox starters have only retired the opposing batters 1-2-3 in the first inning once in the last 19, now 20 games. Yikes.
  7. He's pitched pretty well in AAA recently. You would think that he could at least keep the team in the game.
  8. I am not reluctant to trade some prospects to improve the team. I understand that we have to give in order to get. What I am against is gutting the farm system in an effort to win now at any cost. There's a difference. That's why I have said many times that picking up a mid rotation starter would probably make more sense than picking up a top of the rotation guy.
  9. O'Sullivan is being called up to start on Sunday. If he pitches remotely well and Buchholz doesn't, Buchholz should be the odd man out. We won't need a 5th pitcher until close to the end of the month.
  10. I'll wear my lucky Red Sox socks. That should do it.
  11. No, but it is child abuse to deny them Rice Krispies treats.
  12. That's why I started this game thread. After we win tonight, I wanted to start the game thread when Buchholz starts. We will either soar or go down in flames together.
  13. It's been a good game. Both teams have had runners on 3rd with less than 2 outs and were unable to score. For all of the "robot ump" crowd, the Jays have been extremely frustrated with the home plate ump, and there have been 3 ejections because of it.
  14. I understood what you meant, and perhaps my use of the word 'sell' was not the best. My 'NOOOOO' was in response to you entertaining the idea of this team becoming sellers. We are far from that point, IMO. I think we should be buyers, but I don't think we should gut the farm to try to win it all this year. Add a #3/4 starter, a solid reliever, and possibly an offensive upgrade at catcher, left field, or the bench. This would be in lieu of gutting the farm to obtain a #1/2 pitcher. This also assumes that the current players start performing like they are capable of performing.
  15. Seriously. I watched the Rays blow a 7-2 lead in the 9th inning last night. They ended up losing 10-7. And we lost 2 out of 3 to them? Enough of that crap. Time to start playing like they mean business.
  16. Some interesting stats I read earlier: In the month of June, the Os offense offense hit like the Sox offense did earlier. Their team OPS is .888 and their team BABIP is .340. They will come back down to earth. In the meantime, every member of the Sox starting line up (except for Young) saw a decline in their OPS in June.
  17. If Buchholz does not pitch well tomorrow, he should be out of the rotation. After Sunday, the Sox won't need a 5th pitcher until July 25th, I believe. Whoever is called up to take ERod's place can be our #4, and Buchholz can go back to the pen.
  18. Halos @ Red Sox Friday....7pm.....Fenway Chacin 3-6/ 5.64 A month ago, Chacin walked off the mound with his first CG since 2011. Snce then he has yet to get past 5 1/3, working 4 2/3 innings in his last start; a loss vs Oakland. Wright 8-5/ 2.18 Will try and recover from a rare bad outing, giving up 7 hits, 8 runs (3 earned) vs Texas. Is 4-1/ 2.56 this season at Fenway. Thank goodness the June swoon is over. It will not carry into this month. July mojo! Go Sox!
  19. Your first point is valid, and Sarris acknowledges it in this article. That said, I'm not sure whether some of the players spoke to Sarris with the agreement that they would not be quoted or identified, in which case unfavorable treatment from the umps would not be a concern. Aside from whether players would actually be for or against it, I thought the article brought up some good points.
  20. Are Ted and Babe former neighbors?
  21. LOL I knew you would like that.
  22. I don't think this team has as many holes as it seems. The talent is there. We need the offense to get back to being a powerhouse. I don't expect them to match the production from earlier in the year, but they are certainly better than what we've seen in the last month or so. We need Price to be an ace, and we need Buchholz to keep the team in games. Pick up a solid #3/4 starter, a solid reliever, and maybe an upgrade offensively at LF, Catcher, or the bench, and we should be good to go. It comes down to the current players staying healthy and performing to their ability.
  23. Ah, so the offense was to blame in those losses?
  24. You take my comments out of context and apply hyperbole to them. When I mention that Papi was part of the offensive woes last May, and he was, I was in no way making him my 'victim'. I was simply stating a fact. The offense stunk last May, and that was a large part of why the team fell out of contention. Not the only part, but a large part. When I said that Price is not pitching like an ace and that he needs to pitch better, I am not 'jumping all over him'. Again, I was simply stating a fact. Within the same argument, I said that he was not the problem, I said that he gets more time to become acclimated, I said that I am confident that he will return to ace level soon, and I praised him for owning up to his pitching rather than making excuses. You just choose to ignore these things. And I'd like to know how I can be a homer when I'm supposedly making players victims with my undue criticism and jumping all over them? These are tactics you use to try to undermine my credibility whenever my opinion does not gel with yours. Try debating what I'm actually saying, which in this argument was that Price is not pitching like the ace that we thought we were getting. Can you debate that statement?
