  1. I was not advocating moving him down the order. However, I was hesitant to have hitting so high to start with. But that's why we have Farrell. He knows the players better than any of us and he knows what they can and can't handle.
  2. Yeah, but Pablo would have caught that pop up in foul territory in the first inning today.
  3. Barnes and Kimbrel have been pretty much lights out at the back end of the pen.
  4. LOL Good one.
  5. This. Our starters the last 2 games would not look nearly as bad if not for some defensive miscues. That said, Wright settled in nicely after the first inning.
  6. Jasonbay44 mojo going strong! It's really, really nice that we took 3 of 4.
  7. Good post. I'm glad he got a big hit today. I am pulling for the guy.
  8. We'll just have to disagree on how many wins Sale adds to the team. I don't think it's a net gain of 8-10 wins.
  9. As I've said before, I'd be more than okay with what we paid for Sale if we hadn't traded so many prospects before the Sale trade.
  10. I agree. I have always been a fan of great pitching over great offense. I love to watch him pitch.
  11. There is no evidence that either choke or clutch are repeatable or predictable at the MLB level.
  12. I can agree with this. I don't think that's choking though. I think of choking as the inability to handle high pressure. I don't know if anything psychological is going on with Price, but if there is, I would think of it more as 'psyching himself out' then choking.
  13. It could be any number of things. I really don't think they could sustain an MLB career if they can't handle pressure. JMO
  14. Oh, and good for Pablo.
  15. Check swing doubles down the left field line are great too. Randomness!
  16. It's early. We are not at the cliff yet. The Sox will be fine.
  17. My sentiments exactly. He turned an out into a 2 run triple. Had he caught the ball, Pom could have gotten out of the inning unscathed. Not knocking the guy, just agreeing with your observation.
  18. This is not to take anything away from Sale, but you are overestimating his win value to the team. He does give us an added advantage towards making the playoffs, no doubt. And every win counts. He's just not an additional 8-10 wins. Also, the price for Sale is not unreasonable if you look at that trade alone. It was the Sale trade on top of the other trades that were already done that makes it an over the top move.
  19. I do believe in the existence of choke, but I think that the 'chokers' are weeded out by the major league level. Or if they make it there, they do not last very long. I believe that most major league players handle pressure pretty well, though I'm sure they all have their moments when they let it get to them. At the major league level, their are choke moments, just as there are clutch moments.
  20. This terrible start by Pablo is probably the worst thing that could happen for him. I know that fans are not going to have any patience with him after the last two years. He is already starting to become a scapegoat.
  21. It's too early to shake up the line up IMO, especially considering all of the absent players that we've had. I think Beni will be fine. That said, I would have preferred starting Beni down further in the order, then moving him up the line up as warranted. That would be the better option than starting him in the #2 hole, then having to move him down if he is not successful.
  22. I was reading this morning about how Sale almost never shakes off his catcher, and how that contributes to his success. It's not only about the pace of play, but the idea of not overthinking on the mound. IMO, too many pitchers think too much on the mound, and it gets them in trouble. A good catcher, like Leon or Vazquez, will know his pitcher well enough to know what pitches to call. Let the catcher do the thinking. That's his job.
  23. Sale has been awesome. Absolutely filthy. I am thrilled that he is on our team.
