  1. LOL Don't worry, I've got your backs when we take the plunge.
  2. Jared Carrabis 19m Since May 25, Drew Pomeranz has a 2.70 ERA in 40 innings. Chris Sale has a 3.54 ERA in 40.2 innings. Say hello to our new ace.
  3. Or maybe the fact that they were playing well over their head early in the season made things look worse than they were?
  4. Dombrowski did a very good job of putting this year's team together.
  5. I think he's sitting out just as much because of his lack of production as he is because of injury, though I'm sure the two are related. Look for Hanley to sit more games.
  6. I'm pretty sure that was the overall plan, to make up some of the loss from Ortiz with stronger pitching. As far as the emotional comments made during the game, I can actually relate quite a bit to d-money. LOL I've mentioned before that you guys wouldn't want to watch a game with me. It isn't pretty. So I understand game time comments.
  7. Agreed. The Yanks are set up better for the long term, but for the short term, we should be very good.
  8. Ah, what a difference being in first place makes! I love the optimistic comments today!
  9. I agree. Still anyone's division, if you ask me.
  10. People, not you specifically, are always so sure that our competitors will get hot, but at the same time are sure that we won't. While it's possible for any of the teams to get hot, I like our chances as much as, if not more than, any of our competitors. I asked in another thread if people would rather be in the Red Sox or the Yankees position going forward. That can be extended to any of the teams in our division. I would rather be where the Red Sox are going forward, warts and all, than be in other other AL East team's situation.
  11. Fair enough. My perspective is that Dombrowski did both. I know that most disagree with that perspective, but once we hit the cliff, you'll know what I mean. LOL
  12. This is why I can't do game threads during the game. Every year or two, I give it a try, but am quickly reminded of why I stopped participating in them. At any rate, I do what Moon does. DVR the game so that I can ff through the Southwest commercials. LOL Our team has a better record this year than we had last year through the same number of games.
  13. I have no problem with trading prospects. What I take issue with is not getting proper value for them and trading them to the extreme, ie. depleting the farm.
  14. Since Pom had his argument with Farrell in the dugout, he has pitched very well. If he can keep pitching like that... Christopher Smith‏Verified account @SmittyOnMLB 3h3 hours ago Drew Pomeranz 4-1 w/ 2.70 ERA in 7 starts since heated argument in dugout in Oakland / Farrell. ERA has dropped from 4.70 to 3.81.
  15. Considering that we have played kind of 'meh' ball to date, I think being in first place is a good thing, even if it's only by one game. Like Eck said on the telecast last night, this team really hasn't taken off yet. When they do, look out.
  16. Strange = Random Of course I'd love to sweep, but if we can take 3 of 4, I'd consider that a success.
  17. Those two Ks were also a thing of beauty. Pom looked really good last night, and that's with an hour plus rain delay. Not only did he save the game, but he saved our pen as well.
  18. I figured that at that point, the game was over too. Walk off wins are a thing of beauty, unless they're against your team, of course.
  19. The problem with that strategy is that he can't bunt either.
  20. Sounds like a plan! Just don't have one in Fairfax! LOL
  21. It has been a surprising year offensively, and Moreland has been better than any of us expected. Betts has been good, but he can and should be better. Hanley needs to get his hitting act together. Seriously. I saw something about his numbers against LHP and they are pathetic. But I agree, I think the team will start hitting better, and we will find a 3B.
  22. With Devers, the decision at this point is not as simple as playing the guy who gives the team the best chance to win. I'm sure he wouldn't be any worse than who we have now, but there are other things to consider. Again, the situation is not so bad that we need to make a decision NOW. I'm sure that Dombrowski is doing his job and considering every possible trade scenario. Things will probably change a lot between now and the deadline as far as who will be buyers and who will be sellers. If a trade cannot be made, I'm sure we'll see Devers.
  23. LOL That has always bugged me, but I suppose that's the thing about names. You can spell them and pronounce them any way you want.
