  1. Mookie should not be batting 3rd. The 3rd hitter comes up far too often with 2 outs and no men on. It's better that he comes up with 0 outs and no men on. I would not have a problem moving him to clean up.
  2. That is a fair point.
  3. Personally, I liked the trade. I thought that both Kelly and Craig would be at least decent players for us, if not really good players. Additionally, they both had several years of team control. Who knew that in Craig's case that those several years of control would turn out to be a big detriment.
  4. One thing with calling up Devers now is, what if he fails and has to be sent back down. Then our cost to get a 3B through trade goes up in the eyes of the other GMs. I am with you about trading top talent for a rental. I would not do it. But I wouldn't put it past Dombrowski to do it if he thinks the rental is the difference maker.
  5. Price has not been terrible. He has just not lived up to expectations. When he was signed, people were expecting an ace, much like what we've gotten from Sale this season. That hasn't happened yet, so it seems like his contract has been really bad. But to date, in terms of value, his contract has not been bad. What happens for the remainder of his contract is a different story.
  6. As of now, the Sox are holding their own with Marrero/Lin at 3B. IMO, that's the main reason why he hasn't made a move yet. I agree with your opinion that it would be kind of ironic if Dombrowski refuses to go that last step to put the team over the top. IMO, he'll wait the situation out a little longer, and if he feels that Moustakas or whoever is the difference maker, he won't hesitate to trade some of our remaining prospects.
  7. The media thrives on this kind of stuff. As long as Price reacts to it, the media is going to make a story out of it. Price has to find a way to just let it roll off of him. Hopefully, he will continue to pitch well. That will go a long way in shutting up his critics.
  8. Fister was a good pick up. Even when ERod comes back, he's good insurance and depth to have around. ERod did not have a good rehab outing. He needs more time, and thankfully, with Fister pitching decently, we do not have to rush ERod back.
  9. Nice all around win for the good guys. We are guaranteed a series win. A sweep tomorrow would be even better. Let's go!
  10. On a different note, Farrell will not be managing our game today as he will be in KC watching the major league debut of his son, Luke. Luke will be the starting pitcher in Game 1 of their double header. How cool is that? Farrell said that he might not sit down during the game. As a parent, I can relate. Watching your kids play sports (or any kind of performance/competition) is very nerve wracking, though worth every second of it.
  11. LOL There are times when I'm positive that I'm the only non-crazy person in the world.
  12. I was no fan of the Price signing, and I gave him my fair share of criticism for his performance last year. However, I don't get the hate for him. By all accounts, he's a good teammate and a good leader to the pitching staff. He's a hard worker and he owns up to his pitching performance. Yes, he's overly sensitive to what he reads and hears from the press and from the fans. He needs to get over that. The team should disallow him to use social media.
  13. Happy Canada Day to you and all of our friends north of the border! Win for those crazy Canadians!
  14. Sanity and normalcy are overrated. The Sox winning is not. Your daughter must watch every Sox game for the rest of the season. I think it's a law.
  15. Bellhorn gets all the credit for that. He called it!
  16. Kudos to SoxHop for stepping up and overcoming D-Money's bad mojo!
  17. I agree that bringing in one strong bat can help improve the entire line up from the standpoint of lengthening the line up. It's kind of like Moon's idea of improving the rotation from the top. That improves the rest of the rotation spots. If we can replace Marrero with a .280 hitter, of course that improves the line up as a whole. It will not suddenly make the rest of the hitters better hitters though. They still have to do their jobs. In that sense, hitting is not contagious. Line up protection is largely a myth.
  18. Agreed. Dombrowski said that right now his priority is getting the internal solutions on track. Doesn't sound like there's going to be any big move for a 3B. As you said, a competent rental type or Devers.
  19. His BsR is -4.9 runs. Yikes!
  20. I would have welcomed Manny back in a heartbeat. Damon, not so much. I understand that Manny is hitting pretty well in Japan. Just the idea that Manny would put a clause in his contract that he gets all the free sushi that he wants is why you gotta love the guy. LOL
  21. I agree. He started off a little shaky, and I didn't think he was going to make it through 6 innings. He buckled down and got through 7, however. It was nice to see him get a nice ovation when he left the game. Maybe he'll start winning some of the fans and the media back.
  22. That is really a tough break for any player, much less a kid making his major league debut. He didn't even get an at bat in the game. I wish him a speedy recovery.
