  1. No clue what you're talking about. I believe you are attributing my opinions to another poster or vice versa.
  2. Very nice story Dustcover. Thanks for sharing. Clint Frazier is indeed good people, despite being a Yankee.
  3. D-money and SoxHop for the win! Go Sox!!!
  4. Ditto. Once again, good analysis Oldtimer.
  5. I can agree with that statement.
  6. You don't think that the stat geeks take all of that into account? They know how bad the bottom of some batting orders can be. They have studied enormous amounts of data. I'm fine with Mookie batting clean up and have stated many times that that is where I would put him. I just don't agree with batting Mookie 3rd. The number 4 and number 5 guys will get more RBI chances than the #3 guy gets. And before anyone jumps on me with a 'it's not all about the stats' statement, I will say again that batting order makes so little difference that it is more important to put a batter where he feels comfortable, not where the numbers say he should bat. And all of the hand wringing over where anyone should bat is really mostly for naught, especially when the team is hitting well.
  7. If Lin continues playing well, they will not replace him with Pablo. I don't think Lin is the long term solution, but I agree, as long as it's working, I'd stick with him.
  8. Moon, you are a numbers guy. The numbers clearly state that putting your best hitter in the #3 hole does not give you the optimal line up.
  9. It's not what works for me, it's what works. You cannot think of the move of Mookie from 1st to 3rd in a vacuum. While Mookie may have more RBI opportunities in the #3 hole than he would in the #1 hole, moving him to the #3 spot also has counter effects, and those counter effects would outweigh the benefits. I have no problem moving Mookie to a better RBI position, but that would be #4, not #3.
  10. The team is playing well, and Marrero and Lin are a big part of that. Do I expect Marrero and Lin to be the long term solutions? No. But as many have said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. What's the rush in making a move for 3B when things are going so well? I am positive that Dombrowski is working on trades to improve this team. 100% positive. It's easier said than done though, when so many teams are still in contention. It would be unwise for Dombrowski to make a rash move right now just for the sake of making a move, because there is no urgent need. The deadline is still almost a month away. Yes, be patient.
  11. LOL As I posted before, I can relate to d-money. Actually, I think we all can.
  12. Amazing. Great job by the bottom of the order. Woot!
  13. And then he has that great catch later in the game. I love Beni, and he has handled himself extremely well for a rookie, but we have to remember that he is still a rookie. He's going to have those rookie moments.
  14. It's been a small sample, but I really like what I've seen from him so far. He seems to have provided a bit of a spark to our offense.
  15. Agreed. He would not have been as aggressive as Dombrowski was, but he would have made moves to get the team to the postseason.
  16. The topic has been researched by many 'quacks', and they come up with more or less the same conclusion. Here is a nice synopsis on the topic: https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2009/3/17/795946/optimizing-your-lineup-by
  17. You would be surprised, I think, at how little impact it has.
  18. Farrell makes some questionable decisions, but no more so than most managers. From what I can tell, the team seems to respond to him pretty well.
  19. I do not have any hard feelings against Shaw and I hope he continues to play well. That said, I can't blame Dombrowski for trading him. I do blame Dombrowski for trading him and not having a better back up plan for Pablo.
  20. On this, we agree.
  21. I would have, and I believe I did, especially if it came down to batting Papi 1st or 3rd.
  22. Betts may or may not drive in more runs batting 3rd, but the team as a whole will not.
  23. FTR, I was against calling Vazquez back up so quickly after his injury, and I was against calling up Beni and Moncada so early last year. I am a big advocate of a team having patience, both with benching players that are not doing well and with calling up players who are doing well. I hope that the FO does not go into 'panic mode'. As many have said, I'll have to trust their judgment in knowing whether Devers is ready or not.
  24. Every move has an almost equal counter effect.
  25. Somebody has been paying attention!!!
