  1. Batting order, on the whole, just doesn't make that big of a difference. Alternating handedness to avoid a LOOGY being able to get more than one lefty out is likely more beneficial than all the other tweaks people are talking about.
  2. OBP is still king, however, when it comes to scoring runs.
  3. I'm going to leave it in the hands of Dombrowski (Do I have a choice? LOL) to do what he thinks is best for the team. He may be exploring trades that haven't even crossed our minds. I am confident that he will add a late inning reliever. I am also fairly confident that Devers and Groome are not going anywhere.
  4. Oddly enough, despite the sarcasm and mockery, this post is mostly spot on.
  5. I hate to say it, but the Yankees are better than what their overall record is. They've been a victim of that odd thing I like to call randomness. I wouldn't count them out. That said, I hope they continue to lose.
  6. Could be, but I absolutely loved the silliness (and the non-silliness) between Remy and Orsillo, and would welcome that back in a heartbeat.
  7. Agree on both Price and Porcello.
  8. An additional point about batting orders is that they should be set based on credible projections, and not based on in season performance to date, especially not based on performance over the past 2-4 weeks. Current credible projections, which include season performance to date, correlate much better to how a batter will perform the remainder of the season than how hot or cold a batter has been over the last month. The good news is, it seems that managers are coming around somewhat in terms of putting their best OBP guy in the lead off spot and putting one of their best hitters in the #2 spot.
  9. It makes sense, though I'm not sure about the Sox not accelerating the plan if the big league club needs help. In Devers' case, I'm guessing that he's close enough that any acceleration of the plan would not be significant.
  10. The Sox are scouting Neshek. He's always been a favorite of mine because he is such a spazz. LOL
  11. Going over by any amount would be a big deal if the Sox are trying to reset the tax penalty.
  12. I agree. And even if it's not a good trade, it was a necessary trade, much like the one for Pomeranz last year.
  13. We are facing some pretty decent starting pitching in this series. Hopefully, our offense is up to the task. Go Red Sox!!!
  14. The rotation is indeed looking solid. No complaints on that end.
  15. Even Yankees fans are saying that they went way overboard with the Judge love affair.
  16. Hmmm, I kind of like the red top jerseys...
  17. I am looking forward to ERod's start tonight. He was looking pretty good before going on the DL, so let's hope he can pick up where he left off. I cannot say enough about Price's performance last night. Being able to get through 8 innings was huge, not only to give our relievers a rest for last night's game, but also to give them a rest for next two games with ERod and Johnson/Velazquez pitching.
  18. Yup. Someone once posted, if you're only going to win one game of the series (or split), it's best to win the last game. After suffering through two frustrating losses then winning last night's game, I completely agree with that statement.
  19. I have tried doing this, but it's very difficult to get the two synced up.
  20. My understanding is that it's a Friday night thing, and that the starting pitcher gets to select whether he wants the regular jersey or the alternate jersey. Also, they wore the alt jerseys in the first game of the double header yesterday, presumably because it was a double header.
  21. Moreland's toe is probably affecting him more than he lets on. Farrell describe him as one tough SOB.
  22. Good post oldtimer. I was really hoping that we could take at least 3 of 4 and put some more distance between us and the Yankees, but after losing games 2 and 3, I was very happy with winning last night's game. Thank you Price. Our starting rotation was excellent in that series, against a very good line up. We just need our offense to become a little more consistent.
  23. I agree that hitters need to mix it up and not be too predictable. The same goes with pitchers. Was it Daniel Nava's grand slam that someone told him to go up to the plate looking to swing at the first pitch fast ball?
