  1. I am the Queen of Confidence.
  2. He had a rough patch early on, but he has been solid lately, except for the last start. He appears to be trending in the right direction.
  3. The Devil Rays were our best offensive player in that game. And Sandy Leon!
  4. Barnes has been pretty good.
  5. That is the thing. We like to point out all the outs made on the bases, which are numerous, but we tend to forget about the runs we are able to score because of that same aggressiveness.
  6. Hopefully, Girardi will continue to pull his starters early and burn out the pen.
  7. LOL Good stuff Bell. I like the alternate uniforms (pink, blue, etc.), but MLB is going overboard with all the 'gimmicks'. It's time to put a stop to it and go back to traditional.
  8. Well, our winning isn't due to Farrell's brilliance, but nor is our losing. The same can be said about teams and managers across baseball. Farrell is not clueless. He would not be in the position he is in if he were clueless. As I've said before, I believe it is fair to question what is going on with Farrell and the coaches as far as underperformance, lack of fundamentals, and mental lapses are concerned. However, in game decisions, IMO, have been no better or no worse than most managers.
  9. I think that was a big reason why Theo even signed Ross.
  10. Well, reading briefly on the topic, it seems that the 'Knuckleball Hangover' is another myth that has been mostly debunked, so it looks like I was wrong in my belief in such a thing. What little hangover effect there might be in a few hitters is too small to really be of any significance. I will have to look into it a little more closely.
  11. I think he's pulling his line ups out of a hat!
  12. Managers in game decisions do not impact a game all that much.
  13. Moon, don't start with the 'we won in spite of him' argument. Winning may have a way of swaying one's opinion, but so does losing. In your opinion, Farrell has made many poor choices. Perhaps the choices weren't actually poor, or at least not as bad as you think they were. For one, I know you've been on him about batting Moreland 4th for so long. Probably not the best spot for him, but I promise you, it wasn't that big of a deal.
  14. I think Farrell is going to use them according to the game situation. I think Reed has a slight edge on being the #2 guy, but that does not necessarily mean he will get the 8th inning, as we've seen. Barnes has been pretty good in his own right.
  15. It sounds like fun. I would love to sit down with those guys and pick their brains. I guess stat geeks like the Pacific northwest!
  16. It would probably be smart to do that in case of injury, but if that's going to be the case, I'm not sure that now is a good time to try to get that exposure. I agree about the decision to start VMart over Varitek. I didn't like it.
  17. I appreciated Salty's work ethic, but he never really had it defensively. Varitek is the man. As I posted recently, I would still have him on the team if I could.
  18. I am a Kory fan. Say hi to him for me.
  19. There really is no reason to complain about this ownership's willingness to spend money. They are even willing to go over the luxury tax and pay some penalty, just not the extreme penalty that would be incurred by not resetting or by going over by large amounts. I think that expecting them to spend without limit is unreasonable and unrealistic.
  20. Of course we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. It's all conjecture as to who does what. That's not going to stop me from conjecturing, just like it stops no one else. It's what we do here.
  21. I don't think it's all on the catcher, by any means. When a pitcher is on, he can pitch to any catcher, IMO. However, if a pitcher is struggling a bit, I think that a catcher who knows the pitcher well can reel that pitcher in a bit. I've seen Varitek do it. I don't think that Sale would have pitched like he did last night if he had Leon catching. But I do think he would have had a better performance than he did.
  22. Dombrowski himself has hinted to something along these lines. I don't remember exactly what he said, but he made a comment about sort of shifting gears after the winter meetings.
