If Farrell gave Sale that extra day's rest last week and started ? in his place, we may have lost that game and Sale still might not have been any better in his next outing. Until the division is clinched, and barring injury, he needs to make every one of his scheduled starts.
You then cross the other bridges when you get to them.

Sox OPS, by spot in the batting order: 7th, 5th, 6th, 14th, 15th, 7th, 10th, 2d, 9th.
Astros: 1st, 2d, 1st, 7th, 11th, 4th, 2d, 1st, 1st
That pretty much tells the story of our hitting.
Our batters, except for Pedroia, I believe, have terrible numbers against Estrada.
Porcello has been pitching like crap.
Reverse mojo is obviously in effect for tonight's game.
WIN!!!
That's exactly right. No one is happy with losing the last two while the Yankees won, but the odds are still stacked heavily in our favor.
That said, it would be really nice if we could close this out and be done with it.
All I keep thinking is how kimsaysthis would be all over this thread! LOL
I have no problem with the Yankees sub forum or the Yankees posters here. Every forum I have posted on has had its group of Yankees posters. This is a great site, IMO.
I am sure that the strained relationship contributed to this incident. The uniforms might have been the straw that broke the camel's back.
That said, cutting up the uniforms was wrong, selfish, and pouty. It just was.
Sale has been nothing but professional since being with the Sox. He is a great competitor, a great clubhouse presence, and he owns his performances, good or bad. I would take a team full of players with the attitude that he's had since being with the Sox. However, I'm not going to excuse his behavior in cutting up the uniforms. It was wrong to do so.
I strongly believe that Dombrowski will get us a big bat 1B/DH type and spend a fairly hefty sum doing so. I don't think it will be Votto though, and I'm 98% sure that it won't be Stanton.
Pom's velocity has been decreasing steadily for the past month or so. He was averaging 92 something and is now averaging 90 something. That is significant. Last night he was supposedly in the 87-89 range for the short time he was out there. He is also nearing the maximum number of innings he's ever pitched in a season. And then there is this:
Red Sox Stats @redsoxstats 3h3 hours ago
Along with velocity concern, Pom isn't getting swing and misses with his curveball. Only 11 on his last 203 and 3 on his last 86.
I'm not one to overreact to one bad outing, and I'm not. However, there may be legitimate cause for concern with Pom being tired.
I thought you were against long term contracts? Stanton looks great right now. My concern is what he's going to look like in the latter half of that contract, not to mention the players we would have to give up in order to get him.
Nope, you're not going to convince me that acquiring him would be a good move.
I'm not denying that Stanton is very good. I have not said otherwise. I said that he may be having a career year (his offensive numbers are better than any other year), or he could be hitting his prime. Either way, I really think some posters are star struck by the 57 home runs, which was my point.
His health and contract cost are serious issues, and a big part of why trading for him is not worth it.
As far as getting Beni for just his contract, there are two points that I stated that you are overlooking or ignoring:
1. I said that IF the Marlins were looking for a pure salary dump, that would be the case.
2. I said that the Sox would not be willing to take on the contract this year because of the luxury tax.
I have no problem with increasing our offensive production. I have a real problem with taking on a huge contract and/or giving up a bunch of prospects or young major league players.
I was okay with the decision to leave Sale in the game, for reasons I've already posted, but I can understand the reasoning behind not leaving him in the game. Also, I share your concerns about Porcello.
I am surprised there is no comment on Hamilton scoring from 1st base on a play where he should have been easily picked off. Boneheaded defense!
Also, the game winning run was scored due to aggressive baserunning.
