  1. What he said!
  2. He has looked really good out of the pen. I, for one, was happy to see him get a nice ovation after shutting the Astros down. That inning was getting a little dicey.
  3. LOL Post of the game thread.
  4. Pom stepped it up and pitched like an ace when we really needed an ace performance. The offense stepped it up too. Great team win!
  5. Holt also made a couple of very nice defensive plays.
  6. Have the Yankees ever played a 1:00 game before because of Yom Kippur? I don't recall this happening before.
  7. Ha. Well played.
  8. That's kind of the point with winning the division. You rest Sale so that he can be sharper in the playoffs, but you then risk the chance (by losing the wildcard game) of that not being an issue anyway. It's like saving Kimbrel for the 9th inning save, while your lesser relievers proceed to blow the game in the 8th. There's no sense in saving a player for a situation that may never come.
  9. Cleveland, Houston, and NY are all better teams than we are. I don't deny that. That said, the first goal is to get to the playoffs, which we have. Once there, anything can happen. The best teams don't always win. As I've said in other threads, I like our chances as well as anyone else's. They don't call me Pollyanna Kimmi for nothing!
  10. Farrell is still pretty much going all out to win. IMO, that's the right move until the division is actually clinched, regardless of how much of a sure thing it might be. The fact that Betts and Pedroia are again in the line up is very telling.
  11. He probably figures the Twins have no chance against the Yankees and he'd rather face the Guardians that the Astros.
  12. In terms of run differential, they are all better than the Sox. That said, I don't agree that this team has played above its head all season long. I think the pitching is about where I'd expect it to be, and the offense has played below its ability level. The team hasn't looked good since coming home, but I still like our chances in the playoffs as well as any other team's chances.
  13. No, it's not a lock until the numbers say it's a lock. Our chances are very good, but stranger things have happened.
  14. Vazquez has been scratched for undisclosed reasons. Leon in.
  15. Sale, Pom, Price Piggyback. Who Price piggybacks off of is a good question. My head tells me it should be ERod, but my gut tells me Fister.
  16. I don't care how you do it, just WIN!
  17. Very strange. I thought there was a rule put in place where games with playoff implications had to be played at the same time. Or maybe that's just my imagination.
  18. Just a reminder to all: We got this!
  19. If we can't accomplish that, then we don't deserve the division. Simple as that.
  20. Positive thinking NS! We are still in a much better position than those evil guys.
  21. And the answer to the question of whether he should be traded is still NO.
  22. Our hitting is what it is. I kept waiting for them to turn it on, much like in 2014, and they never really did consistently. They are middle of the pack. Fortunately, our pitching has been good enough to keep us in most games. Pitching and defense. Isn't that what wins championships?
  23. ^^ Then again, the Astros have nothing to fear with our vaunted line up. LOL
  24. The Astros are not starting Keuchel against us on Sunday for that very reason.
