  1. Now that the division is clinched, there is no need to keep the pedal to the metal for this last game. Rest whoever is tired/injured and needs to be rested. The Astros will be doing the same. The outcome of today's game will have zero impact on the outcome of the division series.
  2. Price's performance was huge. That was the biggest spot of the game, IMO. I might add that I loved the fist pump after Price struck out Springer on 3 pitches.
  3. Even the Dombrowski guys were only made possible because of the strong farm left by Theo and Ben. No Theo and Ben, no Sale or Kimbrel.
  4. Pretty much nobody, myself included, is giving the Twins a chance against the Yankees. But it's one game, and anything can happen. I'm holding out hope that the Yankees don't even make to Cleveland.
  5. I think in these do or die short series, I'd go with an 8 man pen. This will allow Farrell to have a fairly quick hook on both his starters and relievers. Outside of maybe Sale, I can see the starter being pulled after 5 innings, even if he is pitching decently.
  6. Every managerial move makes some difference. Just like every play of the game makes some difference. My points are that managerial moves do not affect the game nearly as much as some people think they do. Nor does any one single play. My argument is against statements like 'Farrell cost us the game by leaving a pitcher in too long' or 'Beni's boneheaded running cost us that game'. Yes, those moves/plays did contribute to the outcome of the game. So did the seemingly insignificant strike one or ball one first pitch of the game.
  7. Thankfully, the boys got it done today oldtimer. I don't think my nerves could have taken it tomorrow if we didn't clinch today. LOL Farrell sounds pretty hopeful about having Nunez back for the playoffs, but we'll see. It would be nice to have him back. He seems to be able to spark the rest of the lineup.
  8. He could be. I am a huge Porcello supporter, but right now, even I don't have a lot of confidence in him. He has been far too inconsistent. Whoever Farrell goes with, I hope that he will have a fairly quick hook if a pitcher starts to struggle.
  9. I am happy to see Vaz back at full speed also. I fell in love with him in during his short stint in 2014 because of his defense and have pulling for him ever since.
  10. Well then, the Law of Averages favor the Twins.
  11. I would too. We got blasted on Thursday night, but Friday's game was a good game that could have gone either way, and we got the W today. Didn't we beat them 2 out of 3 in Houston earlier?
  12. To be fair, our Pythagorean W-L was better last year. That said, considering the underperformances of our offense and the injury to Price, this team has done a darn good job.
  13. My man.
  14. I don't have lofty expectations, but I do think our offense is better than how they performed this year. I don't think Davis destroyed the entire line up at once, but I do think that when pretty much the entire offense is underperforming their expectations, it's fair to wonder what's going on with Chili. Perhaps it's an organizational philosophy of taking a lot of pitches that isn't working for out hitters. Perhaps many of our young guys are trying to do too much with the absence of Papi. Perhaps some of the guys are trying to pull everything or are trying to go to the opposite field with everything when they should be do the other. Perhaps it's a little mechanical flaw that a hitter has picked up because he's trying to do too much. Whatever the case, I think a good hitting coach would be able to talk or work the batters through these things. Not that I'm calling for Chili to be replaced, but I think it's fair to question him.
  15. Home runs are flashy. They do not win championships.
  16. My man.
  17. Division Champs baby!!!
  18. Well perhaps Fister pitched as well as he did because of Farrell's decision to let Leon catch him? When it comes to catching, handling the pitcher is the top priority. Putting Leon in was not a mistake. It was the right call. The rest of the offense should be able to get the job done.
  19. And Theo!
  20. Don't forget Ben!
  21. Thanks Jacko. The Yankees made it a lot closer than it needed to be. Despite your graciousness, I hope your boys lose to the Twins.
  22. What he said.
  23. No, it doesn't. It's awesome!
  24. I would have taken it either way, but it was nice to win the division by winning our game, rather than by 'backing into it' because of a Yankees loss. Woohoo!
