  1. What I've learned about Red Sox / Yankees series is to take everything that you would expect and throw it out the window. Game 2 certainly appears to favor us, but you just never know. That said, prepare to go down!
  2. I think winning the division is more important. The wildcard game is such a crapshoot that, come September, I think the team needs to go all out to win the division if the race is still close. Adding the 2nd wildcard team has put a premium on winning the division that wasn't there before. In terms of trying to win home field advantage for anything, I would say that resting Sale is more important.
  3. I don't know who the three stooges are, but our pen will be fine. Herrera is not the only reliever who was available for trade. Dombrowski is sure to add a reliever before the deadline.
  4. I agree completely with you and Dgale. Now that Dombrowski has acquired Pearce, the only remaining move is likely to add a BP arm.
  5. I think Dombrowski will add a BP arm, and that will be it.
  6. Why would Holt be leaving? Holt is going nowhere. If anyone is leaving, it will be Swihart.
  7. Pearce is a nice little pick up. Good job by Dave.
  8. Awesome Youk! Have a great time!
  9. Remy and Orsillo together were the best. #bringbackdon
  10. While you'd like to have Sale pitch Game 1 of the ALDS, I have confidence in the rest of our rotation to get the job done. The worrisome thing about the wildcard game is that anything can happen in one game. It's pretty much a 50-50 coin toss.
  11. Great hitter, great in the clubhouse, and appears to handle the limelight and pressure of playing in Boston very well. Don't get me started on his defense, though.
  12. LOL What a great signing that has turned out to be so far. Great job Dombrowski on that one as well. He really did have a great offseason.
  13. I wasn't freaking out. I don't freak out.
  14. That's possible. It sounds like Pom will be back after the All Star break, barring any setbacks. A lot will depend on how Pom and our spot starters pitch.
  15. As of about 5 pm, there was no tarp on the field. Good sign, I think.
  16. I'm with you Spud. As long as our team stays relatively healthy, we are good to go.
  17. We have spots where we can upgrade, and yet we are doing every bit as well as the Yankees. In other words, we have no real areas of need.
  18. The Yankees should be afraid. Very afraid!
  19. JD can opt out of his contract after both the 2019 and 2020 seasons. So yes, if he continues to perform like he is, it's quite likely that he will opt out and look for a bigger deal.
  20. Having not watched JD play regularly until this year, I did not realize just how good he is. You really have to give him a lot of credit for the amount of work he puts in. He has also become a great clubhouse presence and leader. Dombrowski hit a home run with this signing, both for the player he got and for the terms of the contract.
  21. I mostly agree with you about Mazz, though I do think he, as well as the other writers, have some good stuff now and then. Even Shaughnessy. Truth be told, I often can't remember who writes what.
  22. I agree with you that neither team NEEDS to make a trade. IMO, which I fully admit might be clouded by Jacko-like bias, is that the Sox are good to go as is, even for the playoff run. That's provided that they stay healthy, of course. I could see adding a reliever. I can understand why people think we need an upgrade at 2B, but I think we're fine there. I completely disagree with you about the Sox needing a catcher. I really think the Yankees' need for a starter is greater than any of our needs, with the word 'need' being used lightly. Both teams would make the playoffs even if they stand pat.
  23. I stand corrected.
