  1. The top two teams of the AL East are dominant. No doubt. I don't think that's what Harmony's argument was.
  2. Wasn't ERod pitching at a quicker pace in his last start? It seems to me that he was. I think if he got the sign and threw what the catcher called for, do less thinking, he might have a tendency to nibble less.
  3. I think it's fun, and I agree that it's cool to see our guys get recognized, though I'd prefer they get the rest as well. The whole thing about using it to determine home field advantage was really stupid though, IMO.
  4. There you go. My son agrees.
  5. Well I have no interest in the other 3, so I couldn't really say. My son, a complete sports enthusiast, loves the basketball all star festivities.
  6. Stay healthy and take it one game at a time. That's the key. Don't get ahead of ourselves. It won't be easy, but I like us for the division.
  7. We have a winner. Beni has been much worse in CF than he has been in RF. JD has been slightly less worse in RF than he has been in CF. Mookie is Mookie. He's been better in RF, but he's the second best option that we have for a CFer.
  8. Of course any team would prefer HFA over not having it, but if it comes down to a choice between HFA or having players rested and healthy, I'm going with the latter.
  9. The years in which Ben's teams lost were not cliff years. The teams, on paper, were strong contenders. I realize that the games still need to be played, but the talent was there. There is a difference between having a contending team that doesn't make it for one reason or another versus having a team that has no chance before the season even starts.
  10. No, they're not meant to be decimated. Yes, they are meant to be used in trade, but that can be done without decimation.
  11. Throw out 2012 completely. It doesn't count. Yes, it stinks finishing in last place. However, neither of those teams should have been that bad. They were both projected to be contenders, and the 2014 team was the overwhelming favorite to win the division. In fact, since Henry bought the team, every team assembled has been projected to be a contender. That's really all you can ask of your GM (and your owner). The GM has done his job. Sometimes, with baseball being the fluky game that it is, things don't go according to plan. I can live with that. What I don't want happening is to know, going into the season, that your team has no chance. #thecliffisreal
  12. Completely agree.
  13. It's not a longing for Cherington, it's a longing for a strong farm system. The turnaround would have happened regardless of who was GM in 2016. The time was right for it to happen, not to mention both the 2014 and 2015 teams were better than they performed. Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe it's possible to build a contender without decimating the farm. Overpaying for free agents or for players through trade doesn't impress me.
  14. The Yankees would be so shocked to see Price out there they won't know what to do.
  15. Having a well rested team is more important than playing for HFA.
  16. I guess I'm in the minority. I usually watch the All Star Game because I actually enjoy it.
  17. Let the stat geeks vote. They will do a better job than fans, managers/coaches, players, and writers.
  18. No complaints about this team from me either. If they stay healthy, they have as good a shot as anybody to win the WS.
  19. I agree. I really don't like losing one of our catching tandem. I posted a while back that I would let Swihart catch Sale. Sale is the guy that seems least likely to be affected by any shortcomings Swihart might have behind the plate. Either that or let Swihart catch Price. It can't get any worse than his last two starts, right? Maybe it will even have a reverse effect on Price.
  20. 1. Mookie Betts ® CF 2. Andrew Benintendi (L) LF 3. J.D. Martinez ® RF 4. Steve Pearce ® DH 5. Xander Bogaerts ® SS 6. Mitch Moreland (L) 1B 7. Eduardo Nunez ® 2B 8. Rafael Devers (L) 3B 9. Sandy Leon (S) C
  21. Actually, I think most people underrate defense.
  22. I am not sure what your point is.
  23. Defensive Runs Saved = -9 According to that stat, Devers has cost us one game defensively.
  24. Good post Nick. I would also like to point out that keeping Holt at $2.25 million is looking pretty good right now. There were very few who were on board with that move.
  25. Except Dave is not using a combination.
