  1. This thread is moot anyway. Pedroia will be back and ready to go.
  2. I really don't like the idea of JD being an everyday outfielder, nor do I like the idea of removing Betts from the outfield. My concern is not with whether Mookie could be a good defensive 2B, it's with the weakening of the outfield defense. Considerably so, IMO.
  3. Ha. Well played. I'll have to be more careful about the way I word things.
  4. One of Dombrowski's finer moves.
  5. Yeah, based on the way he played, I can see where the out to lunch and the annoying opinions would come from.
  6. Well, truth be told, Henry has not let me down yet.
  7. +100 There is no way that I'm replacing Porcello with Johson. I like Johnson as a depth piece. The problem with him is that he has no more options, which somewhat limits the roster moves
  8. 100% in on Hanley.
  9. Hanley is reportedly working out very hard to be able to come back next season. I would take him back on a moderate, one year deal to platoon with Moreland. Buchholz too.
  10. Moreland might not have made much of a difference, but no one knew that was going to happen during the offseason. We had a supposedly healthy Hanley/Moreland tandem at 1B with Hanley being able to fill the DH role when not playing first. Dombrowski did not have to rush to sign JD.
  11. In Henry we trust.
  12. Thank goodness for DVRs is all I have to say. I can't sit through all the ads during the games.
  13. I don't expect all of them to leave either, but the problem is, even if we retain 2 of the Killer B's, there will be a lot of other roster spots that will have to be filled in about a 2 year span. What are we going to fill them with? Prospects? Free agents? I agree that Sale should not be re-signed if it's going to take a monster contract.
  14. Ironically, that is historically how the Gold Gloves have gone too.
  15. No, I'm not giving more weight to run production. I'm giving more weight to JD doing more in his limited role than full time players do. My feeling is that if MLB is going to have a role called the DH, a player should not be penalized because he is fulfilling that role. As a DH, he was extremely valuable to our team.
  16. Well that's all good as long as all you need to add are the midseason guys like Eovaldi, Pearce, and Nunez. But there will come a time, very soon, where we will have to add the Xanders and the Sales, etc. Our farm is not equipped to do that.
  17. Makes sense to me.
  18. I liked the Moreland signing from the beginning. While it might not have put any scare into JD, IMO it did give Dombrowski the luxury of waiting JD out.
  19. Why would he want to do that? We are trying to break him out of his baseball low, not sink him deeper.
  20. I wouldn't count him out yet, but I also certainly would not be relying on him to be in our starting rotation, or even to be our #6 guy. We need Eovaldi back.
  21. JD was able to accumulate 5.9 WAR despite the negative dWAR. In other words, he was that good at what he did offensively. As I said earlier, Mookie and Trout were in a class above the rest, but if those two were not in the picture, my vote would be for JD. He was signed for his offense, and his offense was better than the rest of the WAR leaders beyond Mookie and Trout.
  22. I don't think that it was so much that he was shielded as it was that we had such great outfield defensive players.
  23. As a player or an analyst?
