  1. Not to blame the season on scheduling, but that was the most ridiculous schedule to start a season that I have ever seen. With no off days for the first 11 games, no less. And then there's this season, where the Yankees were home for the first 7 games we played against them, with the Sox only getting 3 at home. Bogus scheduling. And whatever happened to the sealed sign stealing letter that will damage the reputations of some Yankees if it is unsealed? More bogusness.
  2. I think they should keep Beni and re-sign JBJ.
  3. I don't like the game being so offense oriented. I want to see a well pitched, well defended game, not a slugfest. And I want to see a starting pitcher who is actually a starting pitcher who can pitch 7 innings or more. As someone tweeted the other day, bullpen games and defensive shifts should be outlawed.
  4. Three teams that I hope don't win the WS are the Yankees, the Astros, and the Rays, in that order. I can get on board with any of the other teams winning.
  5. I forgot to mention, but it was good to see (well I didn't actually see it) Kershaw get that 'can't pitch in the playoffs' monkey off his back. I guess we can call him a clutch pitcher now.
  6. I think they should raise the mound back up.
  7. !!!
  8. Good stuff.
  9. I agree with you Bell. Apparently, many people love seeing this kind of thing, but I would prefer not to see it.
  10. The series absolutely could go either way. I don't think they Marlins will win the next series, but I wouldn't bet any money on it.
  11. Well, so much for that.
  12. Another icon that I never had the pleasure of watching. From what I've read and heard, Gibson is the type of pitcher that MLB needs more of in today's game. I mentioned in another thread that pitchers just aren't intimidating enough these days and batters are way too comfortable in the box. Would these young guys dare flip their bats with Gibson on the mound? RIP
  13. IMO, the Rays are getting a little too cocky for their own good. I don't think things are going to end well for them.
  14. I've mentioned before that I actually like football and will usually watch the playoffs. One of the problems that keeps me from watching more games is that I don't have a football package, and so the number of Pats games I get is limited. I know that there are many ways to stream games these days, but I'm just not up on all of that stuff, and I apparently don't care enough to figure it out.
  15. What? Did you say something?
  16. I'm thinking that streak is about to end.
  17. I still cannot believe the AL is not playing again until Monday. What am I supposed to do all weekend?
  18. Lucky to even be in the playoffs. Just goes to show you the true randomness of baseball in a short series.
  19. Personally, I'd prefer not to see it, though I'm not going to criticize any player for doing it. If a pitcher doesn't like it, then pitch better. At the same time, I think that any player who showboats like that should expect a good beaning to the bum area. Pitchers don't intimidate hitters enough anymore. We need to go old school when it comes to this type of thing.
  20. It would have been a fun game had I been able to stay up and watch it. I'm kind of glad I didn't though.
  21. I wonder what the chances of losing 18 straight playoff games are. If you take each game as a 50-50 toss up, it would be the same as the coin flip.
  22. I don't think I would enjoy teaching AP Stats. The math behind it is fine, but like you said it's a lot like English. Grading papers would be a nightmare for me.
  23. No doubt. But if you have a fair coin that is flipped fairly 18 times, and somehow comes up heads all 18 times, it's still a very random event
  24. I do not disagree with that.
