  1. Hello? You're the official Talksox Historian. You're supposed to know these things.
  2. 11-0 after the top half of the first. LOL
  3. It seems there time has arrived. The word today is that the White Sox are interested in Hinch, who is the front runner, and Cora is not going to be a top candidate for them.
  4. Whether he is the difference maker or not, which I don't think he is, if the Dodgers win the WS this year, of course it's all going to point to Mookie as the guy who put them over the top. I just don't buy into the idea that one guy can be the difference maker in the playoffs. When a team repeatedly makes the playoffs but can't win the ultimate prize, that has more to do with the randomness factor than whether the team is good enough.
  5. I vaguely remember that. Good for him. Respect level just went up a notch.
  6. To me, it sounds like the White Sox and Cora are a good fit for each other, sadly. I think they want someone relatively young.
  7. No, I don't really see the two scenarios being the same. I agree that my kid flunking out of school would not be made any better by another kid not getting a scholarship. A rivalry in sports is a different situation. I don't want the Astros to win either, but if they are eliminated, that doesn't really help in getting over the Red Sox season. When there's a motto of "Anyone but the Yankees", however, the Yankees being eliminated is big.
  8. Sure it does.
  9. I'm pulling for a Rays/Braves World Series also, but I hope the Braves win it all. I don't really want the Rays in the WS, but they are the lesser of two evils against the Astros. I have nothing against the Dodgers, but I like the Braves better. It's too bad it can't be a Braves/Dodgers World Series. LOL
  10. Well Verdugo had a pretty good season in his own right. No one is saying Verdugo is on the same level as Mookie, but he played well this season. About 2 wins better sounds right.
  11. Should be a fun game. Sadly, I don't think the Rays can hang with the big boys.
  12. All the more reason to dislike them.
  13. In terms of pure talent, maybe not. In terms of value, I would have to disagree. And yes, value matters.
  14. Well said Oldtimer. I agree.
  15. I still can't believe the Dodgers agreed to give Mookie such a large contract. I think they could have signed him for far less under these circumstances. I know I've posted that many times before, but my mind is boggled.
  16. We would have been a better team with Mookie. I don't deny that. I don't think it would have made much of a difference in our standings though.
  17. One nice thing about the Sox not being in the playoffs is that the playoffs are stress free. LOL
  18. As bad as the Sox were this year, I was and am just happy to have baseball to watch.
  19. The Rays need to win tonight. If the Yankees can force a Game 5, I believe they will win the series. Much to my dismay, I can't count the Yankees out.
  20. To be fair, Boone is a doofus.
  21. Sadly, I haven't been able to watch any of the Dodgers/Padres series because of the ridiculous start time. I realize that they are west coast teams, but if the Braves and Marlins can play at 2:30 eastern time, why can't the Dodger and Padres play at 2:30 pacific time? MLB schedulers have left a lot to be desired this season. //End of rant.
  22. That is a hard no.
  23. Good story Oldtimer. It's great that this anthropologist had a sense of humor, but you wonder what those kids went through their entire lives. LOL Also, keep on playing! That's awesome!
  24. Ha. Good point.
