  1. If we had signed Mookie, we would likely still be watching the playoffs from a distance, and the Dodgers would likely still be fighting for a ring.
  2. No, you can't really compare the two when one is a 4 year deal and the other is a 10+ year deal. Big difference.
  3. I agree. If ownership would have allowed it a blank check, I think Mookie would still be on the Red Sox.
  4. Easy decision for me - Cora. Bauer should only be signed if he'll agree to a 4 year or less deal. And if Bauer would agree to that deal, and we could still only have one, I'm still going with Cora.
  5. MLB scheduling has made little sense to be this season, both during the regular season and in the postseason. But I'm glad they're starting the game earlier.
  6. Like most moves, if it had worked, Boone would be looking like a genius right now. Since it didn't work, he's looking like a doofus and taking a lot of flak for it. At this point, it's all hands on deck. I'm sure Garcia will pitch a couple of innings if needed.
  7. Of course, but that should not factor into building the team. Promote your ticket sales in other ways. Build a team to win, not to put fans in the seats. If a team is winning, then fans in the seats will naturally follow.
  8. I would sign him for a short term deal, including a one year deal, though not at $35 million. Four years or less.
  9. That is Larry Lucchino mentality and will get you in trouble every time. Free agency should be all about wins, not about ticket sales. Timing has a lot to do with it. The timing is not right for a big splash.
  10. No thank you. I'm not willing to pay the price that he is likely to command.
  11. Not if he's an almost 30 year old pitcher looking for 7+ years.
  12. Completely agree with that last sentence. They may exceed the tax limit this year, but only if it really makes sense. They will be competitive in 2021, but 2021 is not the year to go big on anything.
  13. I am really not getting that impression. I think Cora will be in demand by any team searching for a manager.
  14. As I've already posted, this is the kind of pitcher we need in today's game. We need pitchers who can intimidate.
  15. LOL One of the things that I like about you is that you make me laugh.
  16. The nice thing about this season is we can put an * next to it if the Yankees win.
  17. That is a fair point. But as many people said to me when I had a hard time embracing Chavis and his PEDs use, he served his punishment and should be given a second chance. Cora served his punishment. He should be given a second chance.
  18. To cut down on home runs. To help bring back the intimidation factor of the pitcher. To see more pitcher's duels and less slugfests.
  19. Good point about how raising the mound might help pitchers' health.
  20. They do look like the powerhouse that should win it all. I don't think the Dodgers can really claim this year as a success unless they go all the way.
  21. Agree about the Rays taking out the Yankees.
  22. The answer to how long a leash you give a player is always a tough one to know the answer to. There are many cases where patience with a player has paid off, and there are many cases where a team has given up on a player and that player takes off with another team. So I don't know the answer to that question, but I do tend to be more patient with slumping players than most. At the same time, I would most definitely have a strong 4th outfielder and strong OF depth to replace Beni if need be. But that should always be the case because you never know when injury will hit. Always have a plan B.
  23. I agree that the Sox are perfectly capable of shooting themselves in the foot on their own. But I also believe that the Yankees are showed favoritism from MLB. Another example is Chapman's 3 game suspension appeal being postponed until next season. Bogus. And last year when it was the Red Sox home games that were played in London. Why not the Yankees' home games? Why not one home game from each team?
  24. Not that it makes it right or okay, but yes, cheating is so widespread in baseball that if you're going to quit rooting for a team because they rehire Cora, then you would pretty much have to quit rooting for any team. Cora and the Astros are not the only team who are guilty of sign stealing. Every team does it to some extent. That doesn't even take into account other forms of cheating going on.
