  1. It could be, but Springer and Bauer still aren't worth 6 year deals.
  2. I want JBJ back, but I'm afraid that he is going to be out of the Sox' price range. I agree that we need one more outfielder, preferably a defensive oriented CFer.
  3. I am anxious for something to happen just like everyone else is. But I understand the need for patience and thoroughness on Bloom's part.
  4. I cannot see that happening at all.
  5. This is one of the reasons why the offseason drives me crazy. You usually don't get a false report that a player has actually signed somewhere, but the false reports that say the Sox are the favorite to sign someone or that the Sox are nearing a deal with someone are bad enough.
  6. I can understand the frustration and the desire for something to happen. It will get better before the season starts.
  7. Let's wait and see what the team looks when the season starts. Ownership is aware of the current mood of the fanbase. Moves will be coming.
  8. Thank you.
  9. There is no team that will operate year after year after year without resetting. I don't understand why so many people are averse to this idea.
  10. The price we paid was worth it because we won the championship. (Imagine if we hadn't.) However, I wholeheartedly believe that we could have built a champion with a less aggressive approach and currently be in better shape as far as flexibility goes than we were last year and we are this year.
  11. I read Kennedy's comments earlier. I don't think he really said anything that we didn't already know. We always knew that that the Sox were not going to have an 'all in' approach this year. The team is not at the point to do that. We need a farm system. That said, that doesn't mean that we can't or won't be competitive. Too many people are interpreting his statement as meaning the Sox are punting this season. I don't think that's the case. There's a difference between not going all in and punting.
  12. I would happily welcome JBJ back, but I think he is going to be offered more than I think the Red Sox should pay, and more than Bloom is willing to pay.
  13. Because the top tier free agents aren't worth the deals they are getting.
  14. Have they ever said that they wouldn't exceed the threshold? If the right deal comes along, they'll go over.
  15. Springer is a nice addition for the Jays. They will have a good offense (or offence). I wouldn't have given him that long of a deal though.
  16. Unfortunately, the media thinks the sky is falling. Some of them are really in top form today.
  17. This is my kind of post.
  18. Very true. Well said.
  19. That's all that needs to be said.
  20. In overall team building philosophy? I don't think it's a stretch at all. We haven't seen Bloom in action as much yet, but we will over the next few years.
  21. Very much so. I really hate to see a player not be able to retire on his own terms.
  22. John Henry and the Red Sox fan base do not have the patience to go that route. That is why some of those awful signings took place under Cherington's watch. It's also why Cherington's watch was cut short. A Red Sox GM does not have the luxury of strictly rebuilding without also remaining competitive in the process.
  23. I don't think the Sox are magically rebounding without more additions. The offseason is not over yet. I don't think the Sox will be the division winner, by any means, but I do think they will contend for the postseason this year. Even if they don't, it is not going to take us until 24 to become a WS contender.
  24. I think Theo and Bloom are very much cut from the same cloth.
