  1. ^^^More exclamation points!!! The excitement is building!!!
  2. Et tu, Bell?
  3. I said several times last season that, given our need for pitching, picking up Perez' option was a no brainer. I was surprised when the Sox declined the option. I have to remember that Bloom actually knows what he is doing. Perez is not a game changer. Nor is he Bloom's big pitching move. He is more of a depth move who should keep the team in most games that he starts. I think it's a good move. Now on to bigger and better things.
  4. Bloom's hands were tied last year, both financially and in terms of prospects. There wasn't a whole lot that he could add given his restraints. The team should have been competitive, but after Sale and ERod were sidelined for the season, everything changed. There aren't many teams who could recover losing their #1 and #2 starting pitchers, even if they had more flexibility.
  5. Well, why would we trade Kluber at the ASB if he's good? Quit assuming that the Sox aren't going to the playoffs.
  6. I cannot imagine Henry being willing to have another season like 2020, when the Sox ended up being irrelevant. I just can't see Henry being okay with that. He wants the Red Sox to be relevant and competitive in 2021, and so they will be.
  7. I am still at a 1, maybe even a 0.5.
  8. We do have some question marks. I believe that most of those questions marks will be answered before the start of the season!!!
  9. No doubt that Kluber carries a lot of question marks with him. I still think he's worth the chance. I get that he wouldn't be part of the plan beyond this year, but I'm looking to compete this year and I think Kluber would help us get there. I would much rather see a deal like this than a 5+ year deal for Bauer.
  10. IMO, his potential upside outweighs the risk. That said, the Yankees need a solid Plan B in case Kluber can't pitch.
  11. Well played.
  12. There aren't enough parents instilling a love of the game into their kids.
  13. Ha. That's actually a somewhat interesting idea. I wouldn't do it after 9 innings, but perhaps after 15 innings or something like that.
  14. O ye of little faith.
  15. I would have done this deal in a heartbeat, because it's only for one year. IMO, it is well worth the risk According to Sherman, the Yankees have the inside track on Kluber's health: Joel Sherman @joelsherman1 · 9h #Yankees always had a HUGE edge in knowledge with Kluber. Eric Cressey is overseeing Kluber’s rehab from a shoulder injury that kept him to 1GS last yr and Cressey is also the #Yankees director of health and performance.
  16. I am glad that the Sox and Devers reached an agreement. Those arb hearings can be brutal. That could be part of the reason why Mookie decided he didn't want to play in Boston.
  17. I like this deal for the Yankees. I would have done this for the Sox in a heartbeat. $11M might seem like a lot for a 35 year old pitcher who hasn't pitched much in the last 2 years due to injury, but it's a one-year deal. If he's not healthy, the sunk cost is easy to absorb. OTOH, he could end up being very good. He's very much worth the risk. A writer also mentioned the benefits of his intangibles, which I thought was a good point.
  18. I have grown warmer to the 7 inning double headers and the runner on second base rule. When I first heard about starting extra innings with a runner on 2B, I thought it was the stupidest rule I'd ever heard of. Having seen it in action, it's not bad. I kind of like the extra strategy that comes along with it. I think I would still prefer not to have it once we get back to 'normal' times (for me, there's something to be said for those 15+ inning marathons), but if they did keep the rule around permanently, I would not hate it. I could also live with the 7 inning double headers. I will say, however, I never quite got used to it last season. The game would come to an end, and I would always be thinking that there were still 2 more innings left to be played.
  19. Once again, NO to robot umps.
  20. I don't know if we agree on what significant is, but I agree that something is coming beyond just depth moves.
  21. Have faith. My concern level is a 1 out of 10, although given my knack for being wrong, that might cause a rise in your concern level.
  22. He does get to play where he wants, which is not a small factor, IMO.
  23. Stanton has a long way to go with his contract. If he can stay healthy, he can certainly make up for some of that lost time. We'll see.
