  1. I think there are still 1-3 moves coming.
  2. No, not instead of. My top 2 priorities right now are adding another starting pitcher who is less of a health risk than what we have and a defensive oriented CFer. That said, reports are that the Sox are looking for a left handed bench bat, someone to platoon with Dalbec.
  3. Admittedly, I have not seen him play a lot. But I read a few comments from Dodgers fans, and they are all sad to see him go and feel that the Sox are getting a great addition. I have a feeling that he will be a very solid and well liked player.
  4. It's funny that I am seeing this argument from the other side. There are some here that are criticizing signing a player for $7 mil for two years but would happily hand out a contract for $350+ mil for 12 years. Yes, I understand that Mookie is a much better player, but I don't get that thinking at all.
  5. That could be. I prefer that neither Beni nor Verdugo is our everyday CFer though.
  6. Of course the Sox need pitching. Signing Hernandez does not affect the plans to sign a pitcher.
  7. I am reading that former Dodger teammates, Verdugo and Kike, playing together will provide a good spark and a positive vibe to the team and for the fans. Another plus.
  8. If some of the money is deferred, then even better. I don't get the criticism over this move. I really don't.
  9. I think most fans want a big name signing. As I've posted before, if they are looking for Dombrowski type moves this year, they are going to be disappointed. Kike offers not only a solution to who plays 2B, but he also provides depth at other positions. My preference is still to not trade Beni. In fact, I would like to add another OFer to the mix. But having Kike would make it a little easier to trade him if the right deal comes along.
  10. I think Kike is a nice addition. Maybe he's a little costlier than we would have liked, but it's a very short term deal, which is key. Kike's versatility was surely a huge factor. And we needed some help defensively. I would still like to add a defensive CFer, but I am more comfortable with out OF situation now than I was before. A starting pitcher is coming.
  11. Don't worry Larry, Bloom has things under control.
  12. I'm not sure if any of those guys are ready. Keep in mind that I expect to be competitive in 2021, so I'm not really expecting to see any of those guys unless things go really south. Perhaps someone will surprise us though. Hernandez is the exact type of deal that Bloom should be signing this year. I'm not saying that we'll win the WS like we did in 2013, but this is 2013 all over again in terms of the offseason.
  13. ^^^This. I want it to be a defensive minded CFer, though Kike should help our overall defense.
  14. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/dan-szymborski-fangraphs-chat-1-12-21/ Is Dan Szymborski having a conversation with his alter ego?
  15. It's funny that when it comes to her grandkids, she has no problem spending money.
  16. My mom didn't have much growing up. Her family struggled to have enough food at times. She became extremely frugal as a result. Because of her penny-pinching habits, hard work from both her and my dad, and good investing, she is now very well off. She can afford, within reason, anything she wants. However, she remains as frugal as ever. I am talking that she won't buy something for $1.50 when she can get it elsewhere for $1.00. Old habits die hard.
  17. I think convincing Chris Sale that he needs to ease in slowly might be the most challenging part of that.
  18. Because there were reports that Sale was getting ready to throw off the mound. Then someone speculated that Sale could be back with the team in April. Ownership is trying to quell those unrealistic expectations.
  19. I am sure that building up the farm is the #1 priority. But as you said, we will still make some more moves that will help for 2021.
  20. Bloom says that he expects a few more moves to be completed before the season starts. I agree that we'll be fine with the final winter results.
  21. One day it sounds like Beni is sure to be traded, the next day it sounds like not so much. You hit the nail on the head though. Trading Beni just opens up another hole that we'd need to fill. As it is, we both think that we're already an outfielder short. It sounds like Beni has shed some weight and the FO is a little more optimistic about him having a rebound this year. I'd hate to see them sell low on him.
  22. You should meet my mom. She makes me look like George Steinbrenner.
  23. Depth signings are a necessity.
