  1. Yeah that's fair. BTV is fairly useless in these scenarios. It would take something big, but it is the last year for them, so maybe not as big as we fear. Should it be bigger than the package for a younger and more controlled Crochet for example? He's clearly available, I just hope we are hunting him (assuming we can get the extension). There's not much I wouldn't pay for him if that extension is on the table.
  2. He's a strange cat is Casas. He's worth virtually nothing in trade value right now, so we keep him and get him healthy, see what he can do. But in time, I think he's a lock to get traded. This is somewhat guesswork, but he seems a rather isolated/polarising figure in the club house. See if he can build his value and trade away,
  3. Agreed. Has to be for the right piece, but if he was part of a package that brought back say, a Skubal (and we could extend), I'm doing it not to have to worry about his health as well as get better. I like the kid, though. I'm not for just trading him, he's got a lot of talent.
  4. I'm not so sure on that last sentence. Cora has said repeatedly that platooning is the best thing for a lot of the kids coming up. Mayer didn't have much of a season last year (again). I would not be shocked to see him platooned.
  5. Oh, I'm not saying we should go for him, I was just a bit surprised/confused by the Cubs' decision. Maybe it is injury based as Moon suggested. To be honest, I can't stop dreaming of Skubal (and it is a dream, I know). McCaffrey suggested a few days back it would need Early, Password and Arias*, to start the conversation. Adding Duran might be needed instead of the Password. If we can get Skubal to agree to an extension, I do it in a heartbeat. *she also said it might take Mayer in some configuration. That 1-2 punch would be disgusting, with still plenty of good pitching behind.
  6. I agree - I'd play him every day and let him learn. But if the plan is just to platoon long term, I'd trade for his value right now.
  7. 2, no? Mayer and Story locked in. Though both health histories scare the bejesus out of me.
  8. King is more a good 3 to me, but I like him. Would rather Ryan and spend prospect capital. That's what it's there for.
  9. Cease scares the hell out of me. And our record shows long term contracts to pitchers in their 30's (Cease is about to be) are not really this organisation's way of doing things.
  10. I agree with this wholeheartedly.
  11. I'd be surprised it a lot of those figures are correct, and stunned if Murakami gets 220/10.
  12. I think your problem there is that ownership are not going to fork out for long term contracts for pitchers in their 30s. They'll be okay with $22 for Gio because it's one year, and we've shown this year - you always need depth. But because of the inevitable shutout, I don't foresee Gio accepting a 1 year contract, so a no brainer for me. I think we'll almost certainly trade for a younger no2 and try to extend, and use the rest of the money on the infield/power.
  13. If he's only a platoon guy we should move him for pitching, then move from our outfield for infield help.
  14. I really don't get this deal at all. You agreed the price with him - just pay it. What good does this do anyone?
  15. What I don't understand about this - he and that contract is very tradeable. Why not just exercise it and take a piece in return?
  16. Cubs have released Shota Imanaga 🤔
  17. Really hard to judge. We KNOW that Alonso can play 1st, if not to a great level, but we have no idea what the other two will offer there - Schwarber was dreadful in his small sample size. Also, they seem to really value flexibility at DH. But, I'm certainly not against Schwarber. And I really like him as a person/clubhouse guy.
  18. I don't see it, but maybe... I would certainly like Schwarber, but it's an imperfect fit unless Bres can swing his magic trade wand.
  19. Not that I disagree, but what do we do with Masa then? Just a sunk $18m cost for the next two years? Try and trade him and eat just half? I don't think we can have Schwarber and Masa on this team, not for two years. I also think DD will be coming hard for him.
  20. Things would be so much easier to work around if Campbell could field. Just averagely if nothing else.
