  1. Bres continues to impress!
  2. Woah! Bit of a surprise. But a good one.
  3. Hicks. Well it was nice dreaming of a win there for a moment.
  4. True, but Duran is clearly athletic. I don't know what what we've seen to give Campbell that moniker so far. I think he could definitely be worse there. It would be hard, but he's not showing much to believe in right now. 1st and LF are the only areas I can see him having any use as a fielder (thought left is something that's just popped in my head - I've no idea what his arm strength is like), but unless he hits, it's all moot anyway.
  5. I'm not sure Campbell has shown he is athletic? He's been flat out awful at every defensive position he's played.
  6. Page 4 was a fun page to read after the event. People are desperate for bad things to happen so they can say they're right on their particular obsession.
  7. If we're within striking distance of the Division (especially with the best record up for grabs) I don't see us skipping Crochet.
  8. Yeah, after the last two drafts, I'd very much like to see us concentrate on position players at the next one. At least in the majority.
  9. You've called an almost 4 WAR guy 'an impediment to winning'. Of all of your hyperbolic takes, this one may be the worst yet.
  10. Definitely QO Gio. No-brainer. Though I suspect they may work out a deal with him. He seems to love it here and feels comfortable. Chapman is a little trickier. He's not getting 22m in FA I don't think, but you maybe just take the option to make sure he's yours for 1 more year. If you believe he can get anywhere close to this again it's another no-brainer. No such thing as a bad 1 year deal and all that.
  11. Bradish is going to be some pitcher. Not looking forward to facing him through the years.
  12. Fans overrate their own players and prospects. It's natural. I don't see how he's proven more than the doubts he has created offensively? He's defensively awful. Not bad. Awful. And he's shown little to show that his offence for the first month is the real him. He hasn't been able to pull the ball for large chunks of the year, though it's got closer to what you'd want. Unless an evaluator just loves something everyone else is missing, he's not got great value right now. I'm still hopeful he will be the player we'd hoped but it won't be at 2nd base that's for damn sure. I'm 45 with a dodgy back and bad eyes, and I play better D there than he does. I have always wondered if he could be a decent left fielder. Not sure what his arm is like though. But he needs to hit for more power and get his hard hit/barrel rates up.
  13. Lets not get hysterical to try and shoehorn in a point. I didn't say he was worthless, I said I don't think he has much value right now. We'd be trading low while he's signed to a long term contract. He has not been able to show he can play defence at ANY position yet. He was clearly rushed through the minors without any thought to where he would play long term. Lou Merloni was on this early, asking where he could play defensively last season as he didn't see it. And while I generally enjoy your input and posts, I think I'll side with Chris Hatfield and Ian Cundall from Sox Prospects.com on him, when they were saying as little as 10 days ago that the underlying numbers are not even supporting his improved batting average in AAA. Hopefully that will change and with luck, he will be on our team, or at least brought us something back very tasty, but he's far from a lock to be either right now. To think he's ahead of Mayer is flat out absurd, even with Mayer's sketchy injury history.
  14. Proven by the quite absurd takes after Anthony penned his extension.
  15. This is very true. The rubbish/furniture on the streets and horse-sized rats was an eye opener, especially moving there from a European city. Mind you, London on a hot day is no picnic on the nose, either. I lived in NYC for the '18 WS which was fun.
  16. I lived in NYC for a while. I wouldn't want to live there too long, but (and as long as you didn't bump into too many Yankee fans) I had a great time.
  17. The dislike is over his worth to the team, specifically as compares to his contract. I don't believe I've seen anyone say they dislike him on a personal level. All athletes are judged by their worth to their team. It's a s***** way to look at any human (one need only look at the way people talk about Henry despite all the success he's brought the franchise) but that's sports. I would like him off the team so the resources can be used elsewhere. That's it.
  18. I don't dislike Masa as a person. I dislike that we signed him. I dislike him playing on this team.
  19. I really don't think Campbell has much trade value right now. If we could trade him for pitching I'd do it in a heartbeat. Not happening. It's the same alignment now. Anthony and Duran are both fine in left. Rafaela is great in centre, and Duran is a more than adequate replacement. In right we will suffer occasionally, but you can still play Anthony there, and can't have a roster full of perfect replacements unfortunately. Your DH point makes no sense. I'm not saying use it to rest people, I'm saying use it to get all 4 very good outfielders in the game, or Gonzalez/Password when needed against lefties.
  20. It's at least 1 for 15m with the buyout. A 2nd year added on as well for a player of his age is not bad from his point of view. It could definitely take a bit more, though.
