    Interleague play is fantastic. Without it, I wouldn't get to see half the players in the league play. I don't have any interest in more games with the Orioles.

    Yeah, well they can go back to banning interleague play, eliminating the playoffs, and counting walks as hits.

    Why? I've been to minor league games w/ a pitch clock, visible to fans, and it hasn't done a thing other than to speed up the game. It's not drastic in any way (well, unless you're josh Beckett and want to take 45 seconds to a minute and a half between pitches).

    Exactly. They can fix that with a simple rule change (a player is considered in contact with the bag whenever he is over the bag on a slide).

    Part of the fun is abusing umpires? Really? Hurling middle-school insults in public? That's how you 'relax'? That's the example you set for your kids? Wow. Speak for yourself. (I wonder if you have ever actually served as an umpire, say, in little league or h.s. You know, just so you could join in on the 'fun'.)

    Great season regardless. These last two games are why I try not to watch the post-season. Can't wait for opening day when baseball becomes fun again.

    I don't care about the strike call last night. I didn't even see it until today. Big whoop. I care about pointless theatrical arguments over the strike zone during games. You know perfectly well this has been a topic for years.

    I know. That's why custom strike zones are preposterous. Just define what the zone will be for everyone.

    Yup. Totally agree. And that's why they should not bother or try for a special strike zone for every player. (How would they do that for some rookie call up who shows up for a couple of games mid season? Are they going to pause the game, strip him down ... Well, you get the idea). Much easier and simpler just to give measurements. They don't widen the plate for players with exceptionally long arms.

    "Consistency" means "the same for everyone." Period. Again, do they raise and lower the mound depending on the pitcher's height or his release point? And, as you point out, exactly how do they measure height? Does anyone know exactly how they deal with this problem in the minor league (I forget which one) where they tried it ... they did, did they not?

    It's not a matter of trust. It's a matter of them playing better than their opponents. As for your kids brushing their teeth, screw it. My h.s. girlfriend's Dad once scoffed at us and proudly exclaimed he'd never been to a dentist in his life. (His wife then pointed out that he had had false teeth since my g.f. was born.)

    Of COURSE! What is more tedious to watch than a batter or pitcher complaining about a strike call? My question is will they have a uniform strike-zone, based on, say, the 'hollow of the knee to whatever' of the average player? (It's ridiculous to have Judge and Altuve have different sized zones. I don't recall anyone lowering the basket when Mugsy Boggs drove down the lane.)

    I make millions of dollars playing baseball; I have a chance to go to the World Series. But crap, I just, you know, can't really get into it. ... Oh wait! Someone mocked my HR celebration!!! OK, by God, NOW IT'S ON!!!!!!

    This is why I don't watch play-off games (unless it's at Fenway, the RS have a comfortable lead, it's the late innings, and it's their half of the inning).

    You're certainly right about that. NFL, however, while allowing celebrations, still strictly enforces the taunting rule, as I think they should. (Not sure that rule applies to MLB, but if players start acting like a-holes, maybe it will) Apparently they know that if they allow or encourage it, every league from college all down to PeeWee will have players getting into opponents' faces, and no one (other than overly entitled parents perhaps) wants to see that. 65? Yeah, still young. Enjoy it, my friend!

    Were the RS not ahead when Sale left the game? And is his small-sample size ERA not exactly what it was during the regular season? Devers didn't hit a home run last night. What an idiot Cora was for starting him.
