  1. Then that's on Henry. It may or may not have been the right decision, but it was his, and he needs to own it.
  2. I admit I really don't know what nuanced views other posters have on this. But I can't believe anyone thinks, say, that getting rid of Mookie is entirely Bloom's doing.
  3. For most posters, 'Bloom' is just short-hand for 'Bloom/Henry.' There's no point in repeating in every post that Henry is his boss.
  4. We held on to Betts?? Crap! Apparently I haven't been following the team closely enough.
  5. No one on any sports board thinks any other contributor is a functioning adult let alone a genius.
  6. Yeah, why wouldn't Bogey take way less than market value when by doing so he can make Henry richer? What's wrong with him?
  7. Danny Freakin' Santana!!!! Can't believe there were those here doubting that Bloom had something big up his sleeve. Get those post-season tickets now!!
  8. Ha! But then, the RS might win some games. And then they might not be able to get rid of their best players. And then JH might only make 10s of millions instead of 100s of millions each year.
  9. Shouldn't Verdugo have caught that?
  10. I think the "plan" is: Cut payroll and put more money in my pocket.
  11. It's not really a 'reasonable' offer if you know he will reject it and it's below what he will receive as a FA.
  12. I keep hearing this justification for JG/Bloom: we have the 6th highest payroll! But 3 of those higher than the RS are in first place, and the Padres are second behind LAD. Do you suppose there is a correlation between the money you spend and the quality of the team? (hmm... give me a minute). Or are we to start the triumphant chant: WE'RE NUMBER SIX!! WE'RE NUMBER SIX!! WE'RE NUMBER SIX!!
  13. I'm expecting any minute now a boy with a child-like BLoomian face to appear telling us that surely 2023 will be the year.
  14. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/07/red-sox-acquire-abraham-almonte-from-brewers.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook We're saved!!! Who needs Mookie? JD? Devers? Xander? We now have a 10-year veteran with a MiLB BA of .230.
  15. Agreed. But then again, if you build up the farm in order to trade for proven big leaguers, why not just keep the ones you have?
  16. Casales was probably my favorite player. I likely heard that game, but don't remember it specifically. Ike Delock? Can't remember much. Just that he had a damn cool name.
  17. What about Mike Fornielez? Jerry Cazales? and Ike Delock? (well, maybe not).
  18. Except not many circus owners say, You know what? That trapeze artist may get a bit expensive; let's see if we can't replace him with a sword swallower.
  19. Bloom ball. We all need to get used to it.
  20. Yeah, not sure who I'm listening to, but switching between tv and video is like listening to two different games.
  21. There is not a shred of evidence that Devers will ease up once he gets a big contract. This is Bloomhenrian b.s.
  22. Ah yes! Sixth-best has always been the goal of Red Sox fans.
  23. Right. He wants to win. He wants to keep the revenue streams from the gate, tv, gear etc, i.e., he wants to keep all his fans and fan interest. He wants to make millions of dollars. But he wants to do this without paying his employees fair market value for their services. I guess all you guys supporting this are business owners or CEOs, because I find it incomprehensible that workers or customers would support this.
  24. 6th highest salary package. So? I guess your point is "Just look at LAD. That's what happens when you make the stupid mistake of paying an MVP market value."
