  1. 100% agree with both your last posts.
  2. Hey! Stop with the anti-GOG comments! Don't forget: we're a protected class. Plus, a lot of us are emotionally scarred from our hippie days!
  3. There are two issues: (1) trading away talent. OK. I don't like them doing it, but at least I understand the argument for it. Rational people disagree. BUT (2) if you're going to bring in hum-drum replacements, since you don't care much about what happens, the LEAST thing you can do is bring in someone with even a basic civil record. You don't need these guys to be any good. But how can you ignore the fact that baseball is presumably a 'kids' sport, and kids look up to players. Is it too much to ask that you not put sex-offenders or gratuitously violent players out there as role models?
  4. Good point!
  5. But I will bet you any amount you want that it WILL be defended, and by posters here.
  6. They have those 'intangibles' ... It's basically a slap in the fans' faces. The RS decide to put a garbage team out there, and then, rather than get anyone the fans could support or respect, includes a couple of embarrassing scumbags. How could anyone root for these guys or a team that makes an effort to acquire them?
  7. Yup. When you're trying to improve your team, get rid of your best players for guys you know nothing about. That should do it. The question for the fans is "Given that management is happy to put an inferior product out there for the remainder of the season, will you be paying good money to see them?" Why not just watch the future of the team in Worcester or even Portland?
  8. To each his own, but, to me, not being into fantasy sports at all, I get absolutely 0 enjoyment from the machinations of a front office. I only care about what happens on the field and the human beings I follow there. I am thus totally deaf to arguments justifying getting rid of Betts, or now Bogey and Devers, Vaz, even JD--players who have been productive and likely will continue to be. So while from a business standpoint, I admire what Bloom did in Tampa Bay, from a sports aspect, I have no interest in it whatsoever, where my view is simply: "Find the best players you can and keep them."
  9. Didn't he go to Japan, and refuse to accept his salary because he had a bad year there? (What I recall best of him was his taking one in the ear from Randy Johnson).
  10. Wasn't there a parodic argument here a couple of years back that JBJ should take a K to avoid the double play? Well, that was just as good.
  11. Yes he was. Too bad much of what I heard of his play was filtered through the gross and embarrassing homer-ism of Johnny Most.
  12. Didn't see the first inning. What was the base-running blunder by Davis? (I assume he should have gotten to third on Bogaert's hit?)
  13. In all seriousness, why? Bec. you want either Devers or Bogey gone? Or bec. you don't think Bloom has been given a chance? (I don't think you mean because signing D and B would be a great feather in his cap, but I don't know.) (I assume MVPs point is that most fans are attached to players rather than GMs.
  14. Well, if you read my post a bit more carefully, you will see I did not accuse you of anything political, only implying that you are unnecessarily belligerent (a case your response makes far more clearly than I could ever do). I am also somewhat at a loss to determine what you consider a spelling error--not that they are important, only that I cannot find the one you are referring to. PAX.
  15. Dude, with all due respect, you've been ragging on this team in every thread, baiting other posters and criticizing them, spending as much time as anyone here on this matter. Somehow, this bit of gnomic wisdom does not thus carry a lot of weight. In addition, although I can't speak w/ certainty for anyone else, I assume a lot of us are here because we'd rather wail about C. Bloom than listen to the aggrieved b.s. of some stupid MAGA-hatter.
  16. I think you are confusing "My opponents are stunned into silence" with "No one gives a crap what I think."
  17. Bloom ball! We better get used to it.
  18. Yup. That's his vision. A team-ful of "Bloom guys."
  19. No. They could have resigned Betts. That was a possibility.
  20. Who needs a good FA market when you can re-sign the players you have? I don't see how you can argue Bloom has done a good job with the farm when after 3 years it is, in your words 'VERY tenuous and not deep." What are we hoping with that haul of prospects? that we might find the next Dalbec? Duran? Sanchez?
  21. OMG I agree entirely with you. Give me a minute ... I need to sit down!
  22. I think the "1A" pitcher the RS could get for Duran refers to a "single-A" MiLB pitcher.
  23. I was watching that. Not so good thinking that he didn't hustle the first 60 feet!
