  1. Now there's a prime example of Bloomian thinking!
  2. Exactly. He threw the ball, no?
  3. So? If that's what other teams are willing to pay, then that's his market value, risk and all. If the RS economic theory involves not paying market value for players, then we can expect a lot more Bloomian games like last night.
  4. And, as a commentator noted today, getting rid of Bogey, whom Devers looks up to, isn't going to help. Better get used to what we saw last night.
  5. But then, keeping Bogey and paying him market value is better than both.
  6. OMG! THE POP-UP heard round RS Nation!
  7. Say you're playing for a MLB team. You're having a good year, one of the top hitters in the league; you're a starter in the All-Star game, along with two other team-mates, both also hitting over .300; everyone outside the immediate organization says you are someone to build around. One of the best players in the league. Yet you have no serious contract offer and everyone within the organization or around it (owners, fans, commentators) talk of nothing but the trade deadline and how you, along with one or both of the other two, need to be traded. Why would you or ANYONE want to play for an organization like that?
  8. Yeah, get rid of your most productive players in hopes of netting a prospect who might turn into the next Dalbec or Chavez.
  9. This team has 3 All-Stars and they all have been productive. So the idea is to get rid of them to make room for more Bloom guys? Like the middle-relievers that have allowed 50+ runs over the past three games? I like Cora a lot--the only one who didn't throw his team-mates and coaches under the bus during the sign-stealing scandal. But he'll obviously have to be the one to take the fall for this (along with, say, the guys referred to in sentence 1).
  10. Just when I think it can't get worse ...
  11. Wow! Didn't see that coming.
  12. Because I think half of them are Toronto fans. (At least, that's what one set of announcers suggested.)
  13. So you're arguing that Bloom was 'handicapped' with the Price contract, but also 'handicapped' by not having Mookie? You must realize this makes no sense.
  14. Shouldn't V have caught that?
  15. Prospects! That's what this team needs! Guys who may develop, in time, to be the next Franchy, Dalbec, or Chavez.
  16. So you want this s***** team blown up and rebuilt by the guy who is primarily responsible for making it a s***** team?
  17. OK. So bad defense costs no more than a run an inning. So 10 or 12 runs? That ought to do it. (as long as the middle relievers and closers rock).
  18. The question is rather, will we ever miss any of the "Bloom guys" that come and go.
  19. Ah yes. More 'Bloom guys'. Just what this team needs. Once Devers, Bogaerts, JD, Eovaldi, Sale, and a few others are gone, we'll see a lot more consistency from the RS
  20. By the same logic, murder laws do not prevent murder. THEREFORE, get rid of the law.
  21. Yeah, this team was better when they had Mookie. I wonder why that is. (the problem with analytics is that there will always be an abstruse stat to support your predetermined position. You know, like Devers is worth only 180 million over 8 years, or that Bogaerts is not worth a long-term contract, or that Cordero is better than Benentendi, or that you can find middle relief pitchers off the scrap heap who will help your team as much as good ones or that Robles fills a need or that a .220 hitter is worth a long term contract ...)
  22. Yes, but our 'feelings' should not supplant medical knowledge and science. There are lots of times I just don't feel like stopping at STOP signs. But I do anyway.
  23. Isn't his master plan clear? He's been directed by Henry to get payroll down. (Winning, keeping popular players--all that is secondary.)
  24. I think the Yankees could also trade away their entire team for prospects, or maybe just waive all of them and rebuild the right way.
  25. Just put them on waivers.
