(Pretty sure you meant 'plu-perfect PASSIVE subjunctive'--spellcheck strikes again). If English had any such form (or how about in this context 'were English to have such a form'), wouldn't it have to be "would have gotten scrod"? I think that construction would be described as a plu-perfect passive conditional (not a subjunctive, although the difference is more or less in the description). But in any case, the word 'scrod' itself is still a past participle. I'll gladly wager a SeaDogs ticket on it.
I got the scrod part. But I think you mean the 'past participle'? (It's not late in the day yet, but once I get my 'medication' going, I'll give it another try!)
See the ball hit the ball but a lot of the times you overthink like is it goig to be a fast ball or down in the zone like you don't expect your bench players to hit .300 you just want them to fill a role but last night Bobby got that slider right in the zone and that's what you want and he got all of that and that's what he can do but sometimes he strikes out but that's the deal with all hitters gotta do the best you can it's hard the thing with breaking balls is that he see them but what you want is ... Good grief, a utility player? basically Brock Holt, now parked at SS? Thank God we got rid of that guy. And what's he doing at that position when they have Kike?
Not mine. Whenever that tune comes up, I turn the sound off, just as I do when facing any other variant of chauvinistic drivel (e.g., the military-happy Star-whatever or, the absolute worst, God Bless Amerika.)
Are we really celebrating the fact that, while the major league club heads for yet another last-place finish, the farm has risen to the level of mediocrity??
His on-field interview on the Sunday night game last year made me a fan (I believe that's where a dumb-ass interviewer asked about his mother, who was dead!). But this confirms my support!
RULES QUESTION: I'm watching Dodgers. Mookie gets a hit. Pitcher holds him on--throws over and as Mookie is diving in, ball hits him in the wrist. He just lies there. Gets up. Trots to second ... Say what? ( The ball must have gone into dugout? right? although I did not see that ) If ball hits runner, ball is still in play, correct? (I don't think this was the third throw over ...)
We have been rooting for young, up and coming players for years. The problem is, once they arrive, Henry trades them, along with a veteran or two whose salary he then includes. If I want to watch prospects, I can go to Portland.
