  1. Sucks to lose Ross, he was going to be a big part of this team. I hope he gets his concussion issues sorted out in time for September and hopefully October.
  2. No statistical evidence whatsoever that Uehara can't get the job done. Some people just aren't happy unless "their" guy is the one blowing saves for us.
  3. Peverly and Kelly will be gone. Soderberg will slide on to the third line, Caron will probably get a shot. Rask should be a bit cheaper than he would have been if he won the Conn Smythe. Would not mind losing Ference or McQuaid one bit. Between Hamilton, Bartowski and Krug we should be able to come up with a couple good defencemen. Horton, it will depend on what he asks for.
  4. He must have gotten lost, those don't look like the route numbers for Mo's Highway!
  5. They won't be giving on on Middlebrooks any time soon. He's 24 years old and he has options. Plus his "dead pull" swing was made for Fenway.
  6. Bruins have a bright future with guys like Seguin, Marchand, Hamilton, Krug, Bartowski still young and improving. Should be interesting to see how Soderberg fits in to the third line now that we've finally gotten him from Sweden. Ference should be addition by subtraction, he was terrible this year.
  7. Well, the Bruins had a good season at least. I'll be interested to see what injuries Chara was dealing with, it would have been a different series if he was healthy. Bergeron playing with broken rib, torn cartilage and a dislocated shoulder. Manly.
  8. I'm in a league with LF, CF, RF, OF and a utility spot and I always have too many outfielders. Guys like Nate McLouth, Gerardo Parra, etc. are always popping up. I seriously doubt a shortstop will be available on the waiver wire that can compare to the production that Segura will provide. With Tulo and Reyes missing a lot of time this year, Segura will probably be the most valuable shortstop in fantasy baseball this year.
  9. Mike Trout has a .345 BABIP. You really think the 8 point difference is going to be a difference maker? Mike Trout is overrated because he's coming off a season in which he had a .384 BABIP and he plays great defense. I would have sold high on him and tried to squeeze more than just one player out of him, but if someone offered Segura for him and I didn't have a good shortstop, I would accept the trade. I don't think you read what I said, I said compared to other players at their position, Segura is likely to perform just as well. Outfielders are a dime a dozen. Shortstops are much harder to come by. Among shortstops this year Segura's in the top 5 of OBP, R, RBI and SB (TB isn't listed in fangraphs but I imagine same goes for that stat). Among OF, Trout is 7th and 15th in some of those categories. You might get similar value from Shin-Soo Choo in centerfield.
  10. Trout's defense doesn't matter for s*** in fantasy baseball. Segura has and will likely continue to provide offense that is just as good compared to other players at his position.
  11. Don't ask for my opinion if you don't want an honest answer. Segura isn't a fluke, he's a top 3 shortstop and there's a lot more position scarcity at shortstop than there is in the outfield.
  12. I would trade Mike Trout straight up for Jean Segura if I needed a shortstop. Segura's a really dynamic player.
  13. He seems pretty harmless to me.
  14. By the way, Jean Segura is a really, really, really good player. His bat speed is off the charts, prospect guys have been in love with him for a while.
  15. As much as I love your sunshiny disposition, I usually when you're not around - because it means the Sox are playing well.
  16. Pedro Alvarez is hitting the crap out of the ball. He homered in his fourth straight game today.
  17. It's times like these when it helps to remind myself that if someone said we'd have a 2 game lead in the division before the season started, I'd be elated. I'm going to go for a run and forget about this game.
  18. Nick Cafardo is reporting that the Red Sox are interested in Steve Cishek and referred to a National League scout who thought there would be a lot of interest in Bard if the Red Sox made him available. I don't think Cishek should close for us instead of someone like Tazawa, and who knows how he'd handle Boston. But we're going to have to release Bard eventually anyways, I wonder if we could center a trade around him.
  19. This blows, we should have taken three out of four in this series and had a four game lead in the division.
  20. Like I said, this bullpen move was stupid.
  21. More bullpen mismanagement. Not only did we load the bases for Fielder, but then we brought in a lefty to face him. Fielder’s hitting 333/.430/.536 against lefties. In other words, this is an all Yale battery.
  22. Shane was taken out due to back stiffness. Can't blame Farrell for that.
  23. That's such ********! Even the Tigers announcers are calling that a catch.
  24. Why is Shawn Kelly on the Yankees and not Chien-Ming Wang? All the Yankees had to do to keep Wang is call him up, right?
  25. With a one run lead in the 7th, why not bring in Miller to start the inning? He was obviously able to pitch today.
