  1. How much longer is this absurd experiment going to continue. Just plain stupid. I thought Bard would be busting his butt to do well today because his job is on the line, hopefully. But he doesn't have it. This experiment is going to cost us a lot of wins and potentially, the playoffs.
  2. He can, apparently. He can also field. But he cannot hit the baseball. He was hitting .203 in AAA ball for the Phillies before we stole him.
  3. Guess we couldn't afford anyone of reasonable quality, so they got Podsednik, who hasn't played in the ML for two years. How pathetic is that?
  4. He shouldn't be on the team at all.
  5. Arrieta looks like someone who would fit right in on our staff
  6. Podsednick is not a major league player. WTF did they hire this guy for? Oh wait....our FO is stupid. That explains a lot.
  7. Bases loaded. Good thing we have a bunch of power hitters coming up now.
  8. Not only is Bard not a SP (period. Case settled) but unless they return him to the pen soon he will be nothing. Its too bad our FO is too stupid to see that, because Bard could have been a very effective RP for years.
  9. This guy is simply not a starting pitcher. He does not have what it takes.
  10. So much for Bard's job as a SP.
  11. His ERA last September was 5.38; much worse. Let be fair here
  12. ALL of those pitchers have had bad games. You just can't discount them, or at least I am not going to discount them. I look at raw data that includes all of it without deselecting data that is personally objectionable. His ERA is 4.38. Thats not ace material, not right now.
  13. Well, if we win tomorrow, and I think we will, we will have done the job despite tonite's loss. Bard is pitching for his spot in the rotation, and he probably knows it. Too many more bad performances and he is back in the pen when either DiceK or Oswalt comes to help. I am expecting Bard to pitch well tomorrow and for us to jump all over Arrieta. I don't think it will even be close.
  14. Beckett may be an ace to you, but I think you will have to admit that he is not pitching like one statistically right now. You cannot just arbitrarily exclude his worst performances. They count. As do his best ones.
  15. Thats true of everyone, as you say. So you have to include the good with the bad when you look at these guys. For example, Kuroda has had three bad starts out of nine. But in five others he has surrendered 2 runs three time, no runs once, and one run once. They ALL count in figuring out who is performing. Beckett and Lester are middle of the pack statistically; they are not aces, not right now. Verlander, Peavy, Lowe, Morrow, and Hellickson are the guys pitching like aces right now. We don't have an ace.
  16. So you want to eliminate 25% of his starts this year. I get it. But sorry; they ALL count
  17. They count, right? Last I checked they count as much as his two best starts.
  18. He was calling Buchholtz's brain.
