    Its no lock that DiceK can cut it, even though he only has to be a functional #5 SP and keep his ERA in the 4.5 range. If he fails, and probably even if he doesn't fail, we ought to try to package a deal to get Garza as our #5 SP-or some other SP with talent.

    DiceK or someone else will be up to take a start. Therefore, someone else will have to be sent down, probably a position player because McDime replaced Bard.

    Hallelujah! Maybe there is a glimmer of hope for this FO after all. They did the right thing, although it took them too long to do it, as usual. This move was obvious to everyone here except Dojji who apparently felt that Bard deserved more time. The only problem is that he will remain a starter, and he is not starter material. He should have been sent down to re-learn how to be a relief pitcher. So the FO got it half right and acted too late. Still..its as much as you can expect from folks like Cherington.

    Mortensen and Tazawa are also at Pawtucket. Between them they have surrendered one run in 15.2 innings in the majors this year. We do not need three LHRP, and Morales, while semifunctional still (and as such could fetch a decent return in a trade), is the worst of the three.
